INIGO RECOUNTS HOW HE GOT THE ROLE

Kuwento ng unico hijo ni Piolo Pascual, “He’s been sending me a couple of auditions but I never actually got to do it.

"He’s been sending me auditions… I think two years na po, but I never actually get to send an audition video. And this was the first time, I said 'Why not try it?'

"My manager, Tito Erick [Erickson Raymundo] from Cornerstone, was also telling me, 'If you get it, then it’s a good opportunity. If you don’t, you won’t lose anything. You can still continue what you’re doing here in the Philippines.'

"So when I did it, I had no expectations that I was gonna get it. Honestly, in all honesty, I was thinking that this is just one of those 'for experience type opportunities' just to experience how to audition in America.

"And I was actually late, I was one week late for the submission because I didn’t wanna do it. I said, 'I don’t have any chance, there’s so many other actors,' you know possible actors in America that could probably land the role better than I can.

"But when I did it, I got the call back immediately. I think after two days, they had me do the callback and when I did the callback I even said, 'I don’t think I did well.'

INIGO BONDS WITH MONARCH CAST

Mabilis niyang sagot, “Lahat.

"Kasi first namin ito na parang big project, and first American project ko, and this is her biggest break so far.

"Ang daming moments na yung pa-VIP treatment, like susunduin kami sa airport then ihahatid kami sa hotel, 'tapos sabi ko, 'Wow, parang VIP!'

"Parehas kaming naaaliw kasi parehas naming sabay na pinagdaanan.

"Also, yung mommy ko sa show na si Anna Friel, she’s so sweet. Ang tawag ko sa kanya sa totoong buhay din is Mom, and sobra rin yung care niya sa amin na kapag may moments na feeling niya hindi kami okay, tinatanong niya kami and ini-invite niya kami sa bahay niya.

"Ayun, para talagang pamilya and walang naging problema, walang naging drama with anyone. It was a very smooth-running show and yung usual na nagkakaroon ng delay or something, nangyayari rin, pero wala yung malaking drama na nangyayari sa set.”

INIGO RECALLS CHALLENGES WHILE FILMING MONARCH

Ano yung mga unforgettable experiences and challenges nung ginagawa niya ang Monarch?

“Madami.

"'Tapos, nandun syempre yung kailangan kong isipin yung accent, kung tama ba yung nasasabi ko, and how to act naturally, and how to act as if I’m not saying it dahil lang yun yung minemorize kong way of saying it, siguro naging challenge yun para sa akin.

"Isa pa yung recording sa pagkanta, kasi since I’m a country singer on the show, I don’t sing like Inigo.

"So, yung way of singing ko, talagang pagdating sa studio, kailangan mong i-forget lahat ng alam mo sa pagkanta at kailangan mong matutunan kung paano nang ganito, and may mga times na gusto ko nang umiyak kasi napipikon na ako dahil parang sabi ko, 'Marunong ba talaga akong kumanta?'

"Parang 'alam ko ba yung ginagawa ko?'

"Kasi iko-correct, e.

"So, isa yun sa mga naging challenge for Monarch, and I guess the initial challenge was moving, kasi sobrang ibang-iba. I mean, coming from my audition after I got the part, they told me, 'In a month's time, you have to move to Atlanta.'

So grabe yung time na yun, kasi para siyang may bagyong dumaan sa buhay ko, 'tapos kailangan iba na lahat after just a couple of weeks.

"And then siyempre, I mean, even if I lived in the States, even if I studied in the States, nakasanayan ko na yung nasa Pilipinas ako, yung mga nakakaharap kong mga Pinoy, pag minsan ayoko kausapin na English, gusto ko Tagalog, parang hindi puwede dun, e.

"Paano mo ita-translate yun? 'Hope all?!?'

"Yung mga simple things like that na hindi ko namang inakalang magiging importante pala, na mami-miss ko pala yung mga ganung bagay.”

INIGO NOT CLOSING DOORS TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE STATES

For good na ba ang desisyon ni Inigo na sa States na niya ipagpapatuloy ang kanyang career?

Sagot niya, “I mean if the opportunity is there, sana magtuluy-tuloy na.

"Siguro if there’s a season 2 and I’ve been auditioning as well for different projects in the States, it would be nice to do more projects there.

"Pero I’m not saying that I won’t come back and still work on my career here.

"I still think that Philippines is my home base and dito pa rin yung trabaho ko talaga.”
