Rock star Alice Cooper encourages followers to watch impersonation done by Jay-R

American rock'n'roll icon Alice Cooper has taken notice of the impersonation done by Jay-R for ABS-CBN's show Your Face Sounds Familiar.

The singer recommended that his more than half a million followers on Twitter to check out the video of Jay-R performing "I Never Cry" while wearing heavy gothic makeup and a wig with long locks.

In his Twitter account, Alice provided this caption: "Check out Jay R channeling his inner Alice Cooper on the Manila show @yourfacesounds! #AliceCooper."

Dubbed as "The Godfather of Shock Rock," Alice Cooper is credited for inventing the shock rock genre during the '70s. The original Alice Cooper band was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

Jay-R takes pride in the fact that his impersonation gained the attention of Alice Cooper.

"I feel very proud that the Godfather of Shock Rock made a comment about the performance," he said during an interview aired during the April 15 episode of Aquino & Abunda Tonight.

"Kasi iniisip ko din that if he didn't like it baka negative pa 'yung masabi, pero at least, walang negative na lumabas. I'm very happy."

Jay-R, one of the eight celebrity contestants of Your Face Sounds Familiar, is considered one of the frontrunners in the competition.

The R&B singer won during the pilot episode for impersonating Pepe Smith and last April 5 for bringing life to Kenny Rogers.
