The much-awaited "balsa" scene of Pangako Sa’Yo has finally been aired.
The characters of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were first together in the June 5 episode of ABS-CBN's teleserye remake.
New characters were also introduced in this episode, portrayed by Amy Austria, Ronnie Lazaro, Juan Karlos Labajo and Grae Fernandez.
The episode begins with Yna (played by Kathryn) buying seafood and bringing it home. She cooks vegetables with the help of her Nanay Belen (Amy Austria) for a party hosted by her sister-in-law Julieta (Sunshine Garcia).
It is shown that Tatay Isko (Ronnie Lazaro) is having problems with his legs, which is why medicinal herbs are placed to relieve pain.
Yna goes to Talimpao to sell homecooked viands in a school. She chances upon a tarpaulin of Eduardo Buenavista (Ian Veneracion).
Her friends Amboy (Juan Karlos Labajo) and Jonathan (Grae Fernandez) help her carry the food. They pass by a restaurant, prompting Yna to tell her friends that someday, she will own one as well.
Meanwhile, at the party, Julieta and Nanay Belen faced a problem when their clients started experiencing stomachaches.
Apparently, there is a red tide that affected the seafood served in the party.
Yna gets blamed by Julieta who accuses the young cook of negligence for going first to Talimpao instead of prioritizing the party.
Julieta grabs Yna by the hair and pulls her outside of the health center. The cruel sister-in-law kept on dragging Yna by the hair until they reached their house.
Yna’s older brother Caloy (Joem Bascon) sees what is happening and tries to stop Julieta but to no avail.
Julieta even grabs Yna’s necklace since she has plans to sell it.
In the evening, Yna and Tatay Isko had a heart to heart talk by the beachside.
During their talk, the young girl serenades him with the lullaby “Tulog na Tatay.” She professes loves for her adoptive family but she still hopes that her biological family will find her, which is why she keeps going back to Talimpao.
The next morning, Caloy finds Yna’s necklace among Julieta’s possessions.
As Yna walks down a street, a car rushes by, causing mud to be thrown on her clothes. It turns out that the vehicle was being driven by Angelo (Daniel Padilla).
Caloy sees this and tries to clean up Yna but she slaps away his hands. The adoptive brother returns her "Yna" necklace and puts his arm around her but she quickly avoids his touch.
In the next scene, Yna is seen swimming in a lake where a bamboo raft carries a solitary figure.
A topless Angelo wakes up and unzips his pants to pee when Yna suddenly shouts. This shocks Angelo, causing him to slip and bump his head. He loses consciousness and falls into the water.
Yna dives down and saves Angelo. She tries resuscitating him and listening to his heartbeat. When Angelo regains consciousness, he smiles to himself upon seeing the young girl leaning over his chest.
This episode trended with the hashtag #PSYYnaAtAngelo.
