ABS-CBN recently unveiled its new offerings for the first quarter of 2016 during its trade launch at the SMART Araneta Coliseum last December 8.
Love teams that viewers missed on television will be finally seen in these upcoming Kapamilya shows.
New Kapamilya stars such as Elmo Magalona and Sarah Lahbati are set to appear for the first time in their respective teleseryes.
Here are the programs that viewers should expect in 2016:
WRITTEN IN OUR STARS
Starring: Toni Gonzaga, Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, Jolina Magdangal, Sarah Lahbati, Marco Masa
Directors: Andoy Ranay, Trina Dayrit
The new teleserye of ABS-CBN tackles the love story of Toni and Piolo’s characters, who believe they have “a love that’s been written in the stars.” They had the perfect marriage until Piolo’s character died in a car accident. Before entering heaven, he is given a mission: to save the soul of his wife, who became frustrated and had angst in her heart after the death of her husband.
What to expect: Aside from the fact that this is Toni Gonzaga’s teleserye comeback (her last teleserye is the 2010 show Kokey @ Ako), Written in Our Stars marks her reunion with two of her perennial leading men. This is her first teleserye with Piolo Pascual after the success of their 2013 movie Starting Over Again and her reunion with Sam Milby, her co-star in Maging Sino Ka Man Book Two. Although Toni already played a married/pregnant woman in the 2002 GMA show Habang Kapiling Ka, this is the first time that Toni agreed to become a mother onscreen. Also, this is the first primetime appearance of Jolina Magdangal after Flordeliza. This is also Sarah Lahbati’s first regular teleserye in the Kapamilya network after she transferred early this year.

BORN FOR YOU
Starring: Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona
This new teleserye is based on a belief in Japan about the red string of fate – that two people who are destined for each other are connected by an invisible red string. This is what the characters of Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona will show in this teleserye. In an interview, Janella said that a touch of music, family and destiny will be tackled in this new TV drama.
What to expect: Elmo Magalona, who recently transferred to ABS-CBN, will star in his first Kapamilya teleserye together with OPM Pop Sweetheart Janella Salvador. On the other hand, this is also Janella’s first project with a new leading man, after being paired with Marlo Mortel in Be Careful With My Heart, Oh My G! and Haunted Mansion.

TUBIG AT LANGIS
Starring: Cristine Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo, Isabelle Daza, Vivian Velez, Ingrid dela Paz, Victor Silayan
Director: FM Reyes
Irene (Cristine) was left by her boyfriend (Victor) after he got her pregnant. She discovers that her boyfriend is already married to another woman. She then decided to raise her son on her own. Years after, she was reunited with her high school flame Natoy (Zanjoe) and decided to rekindle their romance. However, Natoy’s mother (Vivian) does not prefer Irene for her son. What adds to the frustration is that Natoy and Irene are taking a long time to bear a child. Natoy then meets a girl in a barrio (Isabelle) and as they get closer, he accidentally impregnated the woman.
What to expect: This teleserye marks the comeback of Cristine Reyes after her pregnancy last year. Viewers will also get to see the serious, dramatic Cristine which she promised during the look test of their teleserye earlier this year. She is also reunited with Zanjoe Marudo, whom she had as a love team partner in the late-night sensual teleserye Precious Hearts Romances presents Kristine and the movie Bromance.
BE MY LADY
Starring: Erich Gonzales, Daniel Matsunaga, Janice De Belen, Al Tantay, Priscilla Meirelles
Director: Theodore Boborol
The story of Be My Lady revolves around Pinang (Erich), a nurse from the province who meets Phil (Daniel), a Singaporean womanizer who visits the Philippines for a friend. When Phil saw Pinang for the first time, he is mesmerized by her beauty. When they meet again in the province, he decides to pursue her. Little did they know that they already have a connection in the past. Phil’s nanny is actually Pinang’s mother (Janice) who was deported after being accused of stealing a necklace at a mall in Singapore.
What to expect: Although they already starred in the adaptation of Two Wives, this is the first time Daniel and Erich are starring in a teleserye as a real-life couple. This is also Priscilla Meirelles’ first foray into TV acting. Reported to replace Ningning next year in the daytime slot, viewers should also look forward to kilig scenes that they missed when the daytime kilig teleserye Be Careful With My Heart ended last year.

THE STORY OF US
Starring: Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Aiko Melendez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, John Arcilla
Director: Richard V. Somes
The Story of Us is about the love story of childhood friends Tin (Kim) and Makoy (Xian), who work as tourist guides in El Nido, Palawan.
Unfortunately, people around them are opposing their relationship. It was seen in the teaser that Tin and Makoy went to New York years later. Makoy tries to rekindle their romance but Tin gets mad at him when he undergoes changes in the United States.
What to expect: After the success of their three kilig movies Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?, Bride For Rent and Past Tense plus the upcoming MMFF movie All You Need is Pag-ibig, the KimXi tandem is back on television foraying into more serious roles. What’s new is that in the teaser, it is also seen that Kim and Xian did a love scene for the teleserye. Also, get ready to see mouthwatering views and sceneries from Palawan and New York City.
Xian Lim and Kim Chiu
Starring: Liza Soberrano and Enrique Gil
Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina
In the teaser, it is seen that Dolce Amore is about two people coming from two separate worlds. They will find each other through the most unexpected circumstances. Italian princess Serena (Liza) just wants to live a simple life, away from all the publicity. On the other hand, Tenten (Enrique), who hails from Manila, does everything just to earn money to support his father. One fateful night, the two souls meet when Tenten needs money and Serena needs help since she is new in the Philippines. A misunderstanding happens when Tenten thought he will offer “sensual” services to the young lady. The princess is scandalized since she was only asking for directions to locate her hotel. Serena then electrocuted Tenten with a shock gun and shouted “Pervertido!”
What to expect: The LizQuen love team that viewers supported in Forevermore and the films Just The Way You Are and Everyday, I Love You will have a role reversal in this project. Enrique plays a poor boy while Liza portrays a rich, Italian princess. Dolce Amore also promises to showcase beautiful spots in Italy.
