Cory Vidanes named ABS-CBN's new Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast

Cory Vidanes will serve as ABS-CBN's Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Broadcast, effective February 1, 2016.

This announcement was made by ABS-CBN Corporation earlier today, January 29.

This follows on the heels of management's previous appointment of Carlo Katigbak as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of ABS-CBN.

Together with the Content Development Council headed by chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio, Vidanes will manage the development of new concepts for Channel 2 and the ABS-CBN TVplus channels Yey, CineMo, and Knowledge Channel.

Vidanes is expected to lead and oversee the total channel programming, artist development, on-air operations, events management, and overall revenue and profit delivery of the Kapamilya Network.

ABS-CBN considers Vidanes as a key person who helped increase the viewership of Channel 2 in 2015.

In a release provided by the Corporate Communications Department, ABS-CBN pointed out that under the leadership of Vidanes: "Channel 2 dominated the primetime block whole year round with shows such as The Voice Kids, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Nathaniel, Pangako Sa 'Yo, and Maalaala Mo Kaya."
Vidanes spearheaded the preparation and execution of the network’s relief operations and donation drives for victims of natural disasters, including the “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na” campaign’s T-shirt fundraising and benefit concerts for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
She is a recipient of the CEO Excel Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines in 2014 and was named one of People Asia magazine’s People of the Year in 2013 for her role in ABS-CBN's achievements.
She began her career in television with BBC-2 in 1982. She joined ABS-CBN in 1986 as associate producer and was later appointed to various positions in the company: executive producer, assistant production manager, production manager, production director, head of TV production, Channel 2 head, head of broadcast, and finally, head of free TV.
Vidanes completed an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School in 2014. She graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Communication Arts.
