Nineteen years after its last episode, cast members of the original version of Mara Clara had their grand reunion today, June 25.
Gladys Reyes, who played Clara in the soap, posted highlights of the reunion on her Instagram account, including a picture of her and the actress who played Mara, Judy Ann Santos. She used the hashtag #MaraClaraOrigReunion2016
Some cast members present in the reunion were Wowie de Guzman, Christopher Roxas, Angelika dela Cruz, and Paolo Contis, who was accompanied by his girlfriend LJ Reyes.
Gladys captioned this photo: "Christian, Mara, Clara at Eris," referring to their character names in the '90s teleserye
Gladys posted as caption: "With Nay Susan and Daddy Amanthe #MaraClaraOrigReunion2016"
Gladys accompanied this photo with the caption: Thank you Jepoy @paolo_contis for bringing LJ to our reunion. He said, "pinapanuod daw tayo ni LJ nung bata pa sya" told her, "bata pa rin kmi nun sa Mara Clara"
To describe this moment, Gladys wrote: "Masinsinang usapan."
Mara and Clara even tried to imitate their pose in the movie version's poster, but they ended up laughing!
Gladys recalled: "We tried our best na gayahin sana ang nsa poster ng Mara Clara pero tawanan ang ending.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last June 23, Gladys said that it was Judy Ann who organized the reunion.
She shared, "Ang nakakatuwa dito, ang magho-host nito ay no other than Mara Miss Judy Ann Santos.
"So I helped with the coordination nakakatuwa kasi talagang halos complete ang cast namin.
Mara Clara first aired in year 1992 as an afternoon series. It focused on the story of two girls Mara and Clara who were switched after birth.
In 1996, it transferred to the primetime slot until its last episode aired in 1997.
The series catapulted Judy Ann as a young superstar while Gladys as a "primera kontrabida."
In fact, Gladys recalled during the interview that she was really challenged upon playing the kontrabida.

"Natsa-challenge ako doon sa role na binigay sa akin kasi alam ko nga, parang maswerte ako na gumanap na ganoon.
"Kasi hindi ka naman ganoon sa buhay at naniniwala akong walang ganoong tao sa totoong buhay.
"So challenge yun para mapalabas na maging makakatotohanan."
Until now, Gladys revealed that some fans even call her "Clara" until now.
"Siyempre, I'm very grateful and thankful naman ako sa mga tao na hanggang ngayon, may tumatawag pa ring Clara sa 'kin kahit two decades na ang nakakaraan."
