Robin Padilla is very proud of daughter Kylie Padilla for landing the role of Amihan, one of the four Sang’gres in GMA-7’s requel of hit telefantasya, Encantadia.
“Trinain ko yung batang ‘yan para maging Sang’gre.
“Kaya ngayong dumating sa kanya, siguro mas masaya pa ako sa kanya.
“Vision ko ‘yan para sa kanya. Bata pa ‘yan nagti-training na ‘yan para diyan,” said Robin in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
Kylie actually grew up learning various forms of combat sports—including Muay Thai, wushu, and arnis—upon the urging of Robin.
Even in her own interviews, the Kapuso actress expressed amazement that all the fighting techniques and discipline she acquired during her younger years would finally be showcased in Encantadia 2016.
To which, her dad—a renowned action star himself—remarked, “Mabuti na lang pareho kami ng sinabi. Yun naman ang totoo kasi.
“Very proud ako at nakikita kong hindi nasayang. Maraming salamat sa GMA [for giving her the opportunity].”
After seeing the trailers of the upcoming teleserye, Robin said that he’s looking forward to seeing Kylie performing more action scenes.
“Isa lang sinabi ko—sana gawan naman ng sariling trailer si Kylie.
“Ok lang sa akin. Maganda, e. Encantadia, enchanted.
“Pero gusto ko makita yung action. Kasi real deal action yung anak ko. Hindi yun fake. Si Kylie talaga real deal yun.”
Asked who’s better in action scenes between him and Kylie, Robin replied without hesitation, “Mas magaling si Kylie. Trinain ko na yun, e,” stressed the former action star.
“Siyempre ang bagong henerasyon laging mas magaling ‘yan. Kasi may bago na, e, di ba?”
