Alden Richards reveals that watching Encantadia used to be bonding session with his late mom, which is why he is excited to be a part of its requel.
He recalled, "If I could remember it correctly, I usually watch Encantadia with my mom when she was still alive and of course, Mulawin.
"Those are really the two telefantasyas that made a mark in my childhood.
"And now I'm gonna be part of the show, my mom will be able to see this.
"Excited po ako kasi Encantadia has been part of my life since it aired 2005. So I'm very glad that GMA considered me to be a guest."
It was revealed in the August 17 episode of 24 Oras that the Pambansang Bae will enter the telefantasya as the Mulawin Lakan.
He tells about his character, "I'm gonna be a Mulawin. I'll play Lakan. Lakan is a new character.
"Since Encantadia is a requel, the character is new. So find out kung anong magiging role niya sa mundo ng Encantadia and in the life of the Sang'gres."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed Alden after he received his awards at The PEP List Year 3 awards night yesterday, August 21, at Crowne Plaza.
DEDICATED TO MOM. During the awards night of The PEP List Year 3, Alden received four awards: PEPsters' Choice Celebrity Pair of the Year and Newsmaker of the Year (both with love team Maine Mendoza), and Editors' Choice Best PEPTalk episode and Male TV Star of the Year.
In his acceptance speech, Alden thanked his mother network GMA, Eat Bulaga!, his Aldenatics family, and the AlDub Nation for being instrumental for him to receive the awards.
In his acceptance speech, he said, "Isang magandang gift po ito to be called the Male TV Star of the Year, thank you so much to PEP. And mom, this is for you."
Aside from his stint in Encantadia and Eat Bulaga!, Alden assured fans that he will still appear in a teleserye with AlDub partner Maine.
"I don't know what's the final project but I assure you, it's still gonna be with Maine."
