While viewers are clamoring for the comeback of James Reid and Nadine Lustre on primetime via Till I Met You, they also have the chance to see a fresh face: JC Santos.
The theater actor is tapped as the third wheel to the JaDine tandem. In the TV show, he is cast as Ali, the best friend of Iris (Nadine). He, Iris, and Basti (James) will soon figure in a different kind of love triangle.
During the grand press conference of Till I Met You, JC shared his background before earning the role of Ali.
"Nagstart po ako as a theater actor in UP Diliman. Nag two years po ako and then I went to Hong Kong Disneyland and then I went to Universal Studios Singapore.
"I was a singer-dancer in Hong Kong.
In 2014, JC became part of independent films and appeared in several TV programs.
He continued, "So nagdecide na po ako na gusto ko maging artist sa Pilipinas. Gusto ko pong maging working actor talaga. Usually po nasa indie ako.
"Nasa The Janitor po ako. Kailan lang po nasa Cine Filipino ako, Sakaling Hindi Makarating."
The young actor was also a part of the online series Forever Sucks starring Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
"And then theater, lagi po ako nag-au-audition. So kung ano po mauna, film or theater yun po."
JC then revealed that he auditioned for the role of Ali.
He admitted, "Yes, I auditioned for this role.
"There’s this one day na ininvite po ako para mag-audition for this role and then nilatag po sa harapan namin kung ano yung requirements, marami kami.
Based on teasers and the August 29 pilot episode of Till I Met You, there are clues hinting that JC's character is gay.
A reporter then asked during the press con if JC had apprehensions about portraying a gay character and being typecast in these kinds of roles.
He firmly said without giving too much info about his role: "I don’t mind. I’m fine.
"Okay naman ako, e. Basta gusto ko yung role, game!"
