Allen Abrenica on why he had to stop schooling: "Parang nakita ko na po, parang calling ko na po yung Pinoy Boyband Superstar, first time ko pong hindi sinunod yung Dad ko sa gusto niya for me at sinunod ko yung pangarap ko at yung gut feeling ko na para sa akin 'tong Pinoy Boyband Superstar."

Aljur and Vin Abrenica's brother, Allen, tried his luck on ABS-CBN's talent search Pinoy Boyband Superstar.

Allen's audition for the Kapamilya reality talent search aired on Sunday, October 9.

During his audition, Allen scored 89% from the live audience votes, allowing him to perform for the judges: Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino, It's Showtime host Vice Ganda, K-pop superstar Sandara Park, and award-winning actor Aga Muhlach.

In an interview before his performance, Vice Ganda asked Allen if he is still studying. The 17-year-old aspiring singer admitted that he left school in order to pursue his showbiz dream.

He further explained, "Parang nakita ko na po, parang calling ko na po yung Pinoy Boyband Superstar, first time ko pong hindi sinunod yung Dad ko sa gusto niya for me at sinunod ko yung pangarap ko at yung gut feeling ko na para sa akin 'tong Pinoy Boyband Superstar."

Allen proceeded to perform True Faith's "Huwag Na Lang Kaya." However, the youngest of the Abrenicas failed to advance to the next round after the judges felt that it was an underwhelming performance.

Sandara, who was first to give her comment, told Allen to practice more. She said, "Sweet 'yung boses mo and sa pagkanta, siguro kailangan mas magaling pa diyan ng kaunti so mag-practice ka pa," Sandara Park told Allen Abrenica.

Yeng agreed and pointed out, "Nung sinabi mo kanina na passionate ka sa music, medyo siguro nagtaas ako ng expectation. Vocally, andun ka lang, e. Parang kailangan pa siyang i-angat."

Meanwhile, Aga felt a little disappointed with Allen's decision to stop schooling. He said, "Tungkol dun sa pag-aaral mo, parang nabigla ako dun na parang tinigil mo ang pag-aaral mo just of something like this. Huwag natin pababayaan yung pag-aaral natin because that's very important para sa akin."

Vice Ganda agreed with the actor and continued, "Napakapalad mo kasi meron kang pamilyang kayang tustusan ang pag-aaral mo. Hindi lahat may blessing na natatanggal mo ngayon. Bilang parang Ate mo, nanghinayang ako. Sana hindi mo pinayaan yung pagkakataon na yun. Sa edad mo, sana education muna."

In the end, Allen received four "NOs" from the judges.

Vice Ganda observed, "Tonight, I did not see your passion burning. Siguro pwede kang maging katulad ng mga kapatid mong artista, pero sa Pinoy Boyband Superstar, para sa akin, no."

Before joining the reality show, Allen already starred in Gil Portes' Hermano Puli biopic with his brothers.
