Ariel Rivera returns to GMA-7 for the Kapuso teleserye Hahamakin Ang Lahat. He revealed that one of the reasons for his return was the opportunity to work again with Eula Valdes.

Six years after he transferred networks, Ariel Rivera is back on GMA Network.

He is included in the Kapuso Network's upcoming afternoon series Hahamakin Ang Lahat (formerly titled Anything For You) starring Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin.

According to the actor-singer, he was offered this project after finishing his ABS-CBN teleserye Born For You, which ended last September.

Ariel told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and select members of the press during the October 12 set visit that he accepted the project because he looks forward to reuniting with his friends from GMA, including actress Eula Valdes.

Ariel said, "Noong nalaman nilang patapos na ako, tapos tamang-tama may project, baka pwede.

"Sabi ko, 'Puwedeng puwede.' I'd love to. Sinabi pa nila kasama ko si Eula, mas lalo."

The last time that Eula and Ariel worked together was for the 2011 remake of Mula sa Puso that starred Lauren Young, JM de Guzman, and Enrique Gil.

Ariel played the role first portrayed by Juan Rodrigo while Eula reprised the iconic Selina role of Princess Punzalan.

Ariel and Eula were also part of the Kapuso series Kamandag starring Richard Gutierrez, aired in 2008.

But then, the 50-year-old actor pointed out that he only signed a program contract. This is the same arrangement he followed even before transferring and returning to both ABS-CBN and GMA.

"Ganun din naman sa [Channel] 2, e. Per show lang.

"For me personally, it's better for us older actors kasi mahirap kasi kapag mate-tengga ka tapos wala kang choice, at least magandang ganito.

"I was here [GMA] for 8 years so I have made a lot of good friends here. It's nice.

"Sometimes kailangan ng change din, e. Sa work. Lalo na sa edad ko, konti na lang yata kami sa edad ko to be given projects, so it's a blessing."

Even though he was already an established singer and actor, Ariel's first TV appearances happened in the Kapamilya network. He was a main host of ASAP and did the teleseryes Mula sa Puso (1997) and Saan Ka Man Naroroon (1999).

In 2003, Ariel decided to transfer to GMA for Jolina Magdangal's first Kapuso series Narito ang Puso Ko. He then did a string of teleseryes such as Forever In My Heart (2004), Sugo (2005), Now and Forever presents Duyan (2006), Atlantika (2006), Luna Mystika (2008), Rosalinda (2009), and Sine Novela presents Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita? (2010).

In 2010, he did a TV project with TV5 as Eugene Domingo's leading man in the weekly series Inday Wanda.

In 2011, he returned to ABS-CBN for the modern adaptation of Mula sa Puso. He also did the shows E-boy (2012), Ina Kapatid Anak (2012), Maria Mercedes (2013), Bagito (2014), Doble Kara (2015), and Born For You (2016).

CHOOSING TV PROJECTS. Now that he's 50, Ariel is now more selective of the projects that he chooses to do.

He shared, "I like roles that are challenging. Wala naman ako iniisip na ito yung gusto kong gawin, swerte talaga ako na they present projects for me.

"Tapos kapag hindi ko type, hindi ko tatanggapin. Pag hindi ko gusto yung role ko."

He then cited an example when he was made to choose between two projects.

In August 2015, Ariel became a part of the afternoon series Doble Kara starring Julia Montes, which is still currently airing.

However, last June, Ariel's character was killed so that he can do the primetime series Born For You which starred Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona. The series ended last September after running for 13 weeks or exactly one season.

He recalled, "Sa Doble Kara, extended sila hanggang February or January [2017]. They gave me a choice.

"Sabi nila, you want to do Born for You kaya lang it's a chance you have to take kasi yung Doble Kara hanggang 2017 pa yan. Kaya it goes back [doon sa] it's not all about money for me, e.

"Kung gusto ko lang, pera pera lang, I would've stayed for Doble Kara, but feeling ko yung character ko ran its course already.

"But when I was presented with Born For You, kahit one season lang yan, I found it challenging. At the same time, may music involved and somehow para sa akin, ang ganda noon, both what you do, i-incorporate mo yung dalawa.

"And working with these artists, si Janella. I remember kasi one of Janice [de Belen]'s shows, kasama si Janella [Oh My G!, 2015]. I want to work with this girl kasi meron 'to, e.

"Kaya tinanggap ko yun knowing na one season lang kami, Doble Kara is until 2017 kasi I found the character challenging.

"Although yung trabaho tatagal, mas importante sa akin kung ano yung gagawin ko."
