Seven new housemates entered the Pinoy Big Brother House on Saturday night, October 29, 2016.
Last night’s episode of PBB, which used the hashtag #PBBLucky Regulars, introduced the new batch of regular housemates who are part of PBB Lucky Season 7.
These included 21-year-old hunk model Tanner Mata (Incredible Hunk ng Nueva Ecija); 20-year-old Batanguena native Princess Baninay Bautista (Prinsesa ng Sideline/Bibang Bentang-guena ng Batangas) ; 24-year-old model and nephew of Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Luis Hontiveros (Longing Son of Taguig); 26-year old Viva talent and commercial model Cora Waddell (Dazzling Daughter of Bulacan); nurse and 32-year old Tondo native Jerome Alacre OFW Warrior ng Tondo; and 24-year old beauty queen Ali Fores (Rampa Raketera ng Bulacan); and 24-year-old Vietnamese Thuy Nguyen(Lucky Vietnamese ng Tacloban).
They all entered Bahay ni Kuya blindfolded and guided by host Robi Domingo.
Tanner Mata is a half-Filipino, half-American model who completed a vocational automotive course in the US. Coming from a broken family, he didn’t meet his dad until he was 13 and so grew up relying on his identical twin brother for support.
His mother, Julie Distel, gave a teary-eyed Tanner a heartfelt video message as he entered the PBB House: “We all miss you and love you & hope you’re really having a good time. I hope you win, we’re all thinking of you.”
Princess Baninay Bautista
Princess Baninay Bautista is a Batanguena who grew up as the youngest and only girl among her siblings. Used to being the center of attention, everything changed when her biological mother died and her father re-married. Baninay felt she had to compete with her new siblings for attention. When her father died this February 2016, she had to earn her own keep and so worked odd jobs including singing in fiestas/birthdays and selling one-month-to-pay beauty products. Her entering the PBB jouse is her way of helping her siblings and repaying her parents.
Luis Hontiveros is a full time model who helped campaign for his aunt Senator Risa Hontiveros. Similarly coming from a broken family as his father had a family before them, he grew up envying his grade school classmates who he saw were happy with their real parents. He revealed an experience that shook him to the core when he saw his birth certificate and discovered he was the second born, as he always thought he was the first born. Prior to entering the house, Luis tearfully revealed the lesson he learned from his family experience, “It doesn’t matter kung broken family ka or not, whatever happens magulang mo yan. Di dapat natin sisihin pagkakamali nila o pagkukulang nila sa atin. Instead gamitin nating aral `yun para maging mas mabuti tayong anak, mabuting tao, at i-share natin para makapag inspire tayo ng tulad ko at tulad natin na nagdaan sa ganung experience o nasa ganung situation.”
Cora Waddell is a Fil-Am who has been staying in the Philippines for the past six years. Born to a Filipina mother and American father, Cora describes herself as “simple” and “masayahin”. She was two and a half years into her university studies in Florida when she decided to quit and relocate to the Philippines to work. She recalled an experience where her family had a car accident and all of them were in the hospital for one month. Their family suffered financial trouble due to the hefty medical bills. She enters the PBB house hoping to financially help her family.
Jerome is a Tondo native who grew up selling baby clothes in Divisoria. He later became a scholar, completed a nursing degree and is now an Assistant Director of Nursing in a hospital in San Francisco, USA. He joins the PBB house not for the prize money but to serve as a good example to children in Tondo, “Gusto ko lang ipakita sa lahat na may magandang pangarap na nabubuo at natutupad sa lugar ng Tondo. Magsumikap ka lang at makakamkam mo rin ang swerte mo.”
Ali Forbes won first runner up in the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 pageant. But life wasn’t all pretty for this Bulacan beauty as she related how she went to school hungry after her family’s trucking business went bankrupt. After she won the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, she was able to invest in a small vulcanizing shop. Before entering the PBB house, Ali was crying tears of joy. “Masaya lang po ako. Marami po akong pangarap para sa pamilya ko. Gusto ko rin po maging sikat na mangaawait para matulungin ko pa rin po ang pamilya ko.”
Thuy's parents were Vietnamese immigrants who lived in the Philippines and later relocated to the US. Thuy studied to be a nurse. She was introduced to the public as a houseguest along with the celebrity housemates of PBB Lucky Season 7. Thuy is set to be married to her Vietnamese fiance after he proposed to her during a romantic helicopter ride. Upon entering the PBB House, Thuy revealed, “It feels like it’s my first time pumasok sa bahay ni Kuya. Excited na ako ma-meet ang mga housemates. Papasok na lang ako without expectations. I’ll just go with the flow na lang.”
