Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 housemate Jerome Alacre opens 2017 with a bang after coming out as gay in a recent episode of the Kapamilya reality show which aired on Sunday, January 1.
Last December 31, Big Brother asked Jerome and the remaining housemates—Tanner Mata, Wil Dasovich, Coraleen Waddell, Baninay Bautista, and Aura Azarcon—which of their personal qualities they would like to let go for the coming year.
Jerome mentioned two personal attributes he would like to change. One of which is that he would improve on his self-esteem.
For his second New Year's Resolution, Jerome said he would try not to care too much of what other people's opinions about him.
He explained to Big Brother, "Marami akong mga worries, lalo yung mga puwedeng sabihin sa akin ng mga tao sa labas. At kung paano ako magiging totoo. This time, hindi ko na ito iisipin."
After this, Jerome later addressed the housemates and revealed that he's gay. The other housemates gave him hugs and showed their support for his confession.
Jerome further shared, "I just realized a few years ago that I am. I don't have any regrets, I'm proud and I'm happy that I'm gay.
Jerome told Big Brother that he would welcome the New Year being proud of his true identity.
Dubbed as the "Overseas Filipino Warrior ng Tondo," the 32-year-old housemate aims to inspire underprivileged youth to pursue their dreams. Jerome grew up in Tondo and graduated with a a degree in Nursing. He later pursued his nursing career in California, USA.
BB Gandanghari, formerly Rustom Padilla, admitted to fellow housemate Keanna Reeves in an episode of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition about his sexuality back in February 2006.
