Several remakes and new TV programs will be launched by GMA Network this 2017.
It was already revealed that the first AlDub series and the remake of My Love From The Star will be aired this year.
The AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza will topbill Destined To Be Yours.
The Kapuso network's opening salvo Meant To Be, topbilled by Barbie Forteza, already aired its pilot episode last January 9.
The TV adaptation of the 1987 movie Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa also started airing in the Afternoon Prime block last Monday, January 30. The new version stars Julie Anne San Jose, Benjamin Alves, and LJ Reyes.
Here are the TV programs expected to air this year, including the adaptation of GMA-7's classic drama Impostora, with Kris Bernal as lead actress.
GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Lilybeth Rasonable and other ETV executives held an intimate lunch with the press to discuss the new programs of the Kapuso network this 2017.
Mulawin vs. Ravena
It was in late 2016 when speculations came out that Dennis Trillo will reprise his role in another version of Mulawin in 2017.
His manager Popoy Caritativo posted a photo of Dennis meeting with GMA executives and captioned the photo with the hashtag #Mulawin2017.
In early January, Dennis confirmed that he is part of Mulawin vs. Ravena. During the intimate lunch, it was revealed that he will co-star the telefantasya with Regine Velasquez, Miguel Tanfelix, Bianca Umali, Bea Binene, and Derrick Monasterio.
The series will be directed by Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez.
After rumors circulated that she will transfer networks, Kris Bernal announced last January that she will remain a Kapuso.
Kris will topbill Impostora, GMA-7's remake of the 2007 teleserye starring Iza Calzado, Sunshine Dizon, Luis Alandy, Mark Anthony Fernandez, and Alfred Vargas.
The original teleserye depicted the story of the twins Lara and Sara (Iza) who were separated from each other. Lara grew up with a deformed face because boiling water was poured on her.
She underwent plastic surgery courtesy of Dr. Leandro Meneses (Luis). When she woke up, she possessed the face of Vanessa (Sunshine), her cousin who wants to escape her husband Nicholas (Mark Anthony) and elope with Leandro.
Kris Bernal, who headlined successful shows Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin, Koreana, Hiram na Puso, Hiram na Alaala, and Little Nanay, will take on dual roles for the remake.
Her two leading men are Rafael Rosell and Ryan Eigenmann.
The new version had its story conference last January 24.
Actress Elizabeth Oropesa, who did several ABS-CBN projects in the past, returns to GMA-7 as a cast member of this show.
The series also stars Vaness del Moral, Aicelle Santos, Sinon Floresca, and Yuan "Paopao" Francisco.
The new version of Impostora tells the story of Nimfa, an ugly street vendor. She undergoes complete facial reconstruction to pretend to be Rosette, a beautiful lady who is not happy with her marriage.
It will be noticed that the plot and names of the characters of the Impostora remake is similar to Alice Dixson's movie Sa Isang Sulok ng mga Pangarap (1994).
Sa Isang Sulok ng mga Pangarap and Impostora's original version has the same screenwriter, RJ Nuevas.
For the 2017 version, Denoy Navarro-Punio heads the creative team while Albert Langitan serves as director.
Janine Gutierrez returns to the afternoon block with a new series titled Legally Blind.
Legally Blind depicts the plight of a rape victim who becomes blind because of the tragedy. She eventually becomes a lawyer in order to seek justice.
For this show, Janine gets two new leading men: Mikael Daez and Rodjun Cruz.
Lauren Young, who has not been seen in a teleserye for a year, is cast as Janine's sister and the kontrabida of the show.
Both Janine and Lauren are Elmo Magalona's ex-girlfriends.
The series, which had its story conference last week, also stars Chanda Romero and Marc Abaya.
It will be helmed by Ricky Davao, who also directed the afternoon shows Sisid, Kokak, Forever, Mga Basang Sisiw, and Sinungaling Mong Puso.
OTHER SHOWS. Dingdong Dantes is set to host a docu-drama called Case Solved that will use elements of interview, dramatization, and actual videos and photos. Dingdong will show viewers the know-hows of crime prevention. The show will be helmed by director Albert Langitan.
Comedy game show Celebrity Bluff is set to make a comeback with host Eugene Domingo. However, Jose Manalo won't resume his hosting duties since GMA tapped Edu Manzano to serve as Eugene's co-host. The show undergoes a major change since it will be aired daily in the afternoon.
Lip Sync Battle Philippines will also return for its third season this 2017.
Aside from being part of Mulawin vs. Ravena, Regine Velasquez will also be busy doing the comedy-musical show Full House Tonight starting February 18. Her co-stars include Solenn Heussaff, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Joross Gamboa, Philip Lazaro, Nar Cabico, Tammy Brown, Terry Gian, Sarah Pagcaliwagan, and Kim Idol.
