Maja Salvador is excited to return to television via her upcoming TV series Wildflower, where she has the title role.
Last year, Maja left the primetime series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, after which she took a temporary break from teleseryes.
However, she says she simply had to make this comeback because her role in Wildflower was an offer too good to refuse.
During her PEPTalk interview on January 26, Maja explains, "Halos lahat ng teleseryeng ginawa ko ay sobrang gandang role or character yung binibigay nila sa akin. Kung napansin niyo, sobrang binigyan ko ng importansya."
Continuing, the very frank Maja says, "Pero itong Wildflower lang talaga ang pinaka-challenging, sobrang parang ang tagal kasing walang ganitong klaseng concept ng teleserye, tapos biglang i-o-offer sa 'yo, how will you say no, sa dami ng artista ng ABS-CBN na mas fresh!"
The full trailer of the upcoming teleserye, produced by the TV unit of director Ruel Bayani, has just aired.
From there, we find out that Maja's character Lily had a tragic youth, which led her to transform from Lily to Ivy and to wreak revenge on those who wronged her.
Maja adds, "Yung character ko as Lily and Ivy, full of pain and anger kasi siya.
"Noong kabataan, may love. Tapos, habang after nun, pinagkait sa kanya kung ano ang love. Mahirap pag walang love sa paligid mo.
"After nung nangyari sa kanya, pain at galit ang dala dala niya."
LEADING MEN. In this series, Maja has three leading men: Joseph Marco, Vin Abrenica, and RK Bagatsing.
She remarks, "Three lang naman yung boys ni Ivy!"
The 28-year-old actress admits that she has to yet to get to know her three leading men, since this is the first time that they have all worked together in a project.
"Nakakadalawang araw pa lang kami ng taping, so, siyempre, nangangapa pa kami sa bawat isa.
"Pero ang maganda is, pag break, nagsasama-sama kaming lahat. Pero pag take, nagtutulungan."
On one of his taping days, Joseph shared in his Instagram that he would show more of his bod in this TV show.
The physically fit and toned Joseph also had one topless scene in the trailer.
Asked if Maja would also bring heat to the screen, she quipped, "Mag-iinit kayo sa sakit ng ulo niyo sa akin!
"Yung sa pagiging sexy, sa boys niyo na ibigay yan. Sila na maglalaban, kaya nga sila tatlo!"
TIMESLOT. In the past, Maja lorded the afternoon slot with her teleseryes.
In fact, it was in an afternoon series when Maja got her first lead role, via Nagsimula sa Puso, in 2009, where she had for her leading men Coco Martin and Jason Abalos.
The show ended in January 2010, but just three months after, Maja was given a follow-up afternoon series under Precious Hearts Romances.
She starred in its first anniversary episode, "Impostor," where she was paired with Sam Milby.
Aside from high ratings, the series also earned a gold medal for the Best Telenovela Category in the International Emmy Awards in 2011.
Following its success, she was given another Precious Hearts Romances episode, "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin," in 2012.
However, as of press time, Maja still does not know the timeslot for her new teleserye.
She clarified, "Parang may preview pa ng management, and then after, doon na ata nagdedecide.
"Siyempre, meron kaming mga alam, pero hangga't hindi management yung nagsasabi...kasi laging may pa-surprise ang lahat!
"So, kahit ako, ang importante—kung sa primetime, Kapamilya Gold, O Shopping man yan, Umagang Kay Ganda ilagay—I'm still thankful kasi nga, sa dami ng artista, nabigyan ka ng show."
Currently, the only show that is about to end is the afternoon series Doble Kara, starring Julia Montes, which is down to its last two weeks.
But Maja's fans on social media are already using the hashtag #WildflowerForPrimetime.
Aside from Maja and her leading men, Wildflower has a powerhouse-acting cast in Aiko Melendez, Priscilla Meirelles, Wendell Ramos, and Tirso Cruz III.
