Angelika dela Cruz returns to television after a year of absence from doing teleseryes.

She will join the cast of GMA-7's afternoon drama series Ika-6 Na Utos topbilled by Sunshine Dizon, Ryza Cenon, and Gabby Concepcion.

Angelika first teased her TV comeback through her Instagram account on June 8.

She later on revealed that her new character is named Geneva.

Angelika wrote, “Abangan kung saang show mapapanood si Geneva sa @gmanetwork”

In a report aired on 24 Oras later that night, it was revealed that Angelika’s Geneva character is the sister of the main villain Georgia, played by Ryza Cenon.

Geneva will be a villain to the main character Emma, played by Sunshine.

Angelika said, “Yung magulong mundo ni Emma, lalo pang gugulo sa pagdating ni Geneva. Tignan natin kung sino mas magiging impakta.”

According to the report, Sunshine herself suggested that they tap Angelika to do the kontrabida role.

Ika-6 Na Utos is known for its viral confrontation scenes. Will viewers also see Angelika doing catfight scenes with Sunshine?

Angelika admitted, “Nacha-challenge ako. Gusto ko talaga siyang pagbutihan.

“Sarcastic pa lang si Geneva, hindi pa siya masyadong demonyita.”

Angelika’s inclusion in the drama series reunites her with Sunshine and Mel Martinez, who were co-stars in the 2001 drama series Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.

The three posed for a photo that Angelika posted on her Instagram account.

She captioned the post, “Ika 6 na utos ba ito o Ikaw lang ang mamahalin?”

Sunshine and Angelika first worked together in the 2000 miniseries Umulan Man O Umaraw.

Back then, Sunshine’s Rebecca character was the villain to Angelika’s Andrea.

The show proved to be a success that in March 2001, GMA-7 gave them their own drama series titled Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.

In this show, Angelika’s character Katherine was maltreated by her former friend Clarissa (played by Sunshine).

Unfortunately, their onscreen rivalry extended to real life that Sunshine had to be killed in the drama series.

In 2008, Angelika and Sunshine made amends and said that they were both willing to work with each other again.

However, it was only in 2013, or twelve years after their last project, that Angelika and Sunshine worked together again.

The two played best friends-turned-rivals in the drama series Mundo Mo’y Akin starring Louise delos Reyes, Lauren Young, and Alden Richards.

Meanwhile, Angelika's last TV project was the afternoon series Hanggang Makita Kang Muli starring Bea Binene and Derrick Monasterio.

Angelika then took a break to focus on her new baby.

Ika-6 Na Utos, which airs from Monday to Saturday, is helmed by director Laurice Guillen.
