Impostora lead actress Kris Bernal admits it is hard to portray a dual role in a teleserye.
In her GMA-7 afternoon show, she plays the main character Nimfa who underwent plastic surgery to be the impostor of the evil Rosette.
Due to the good feedback and high ratings that their show has been receiving, Kris feels that she is now reaping the fruits of her labor.
Management has even extended the Kapuso daytime series until January 2018.
I mean, madadala mo sa make-up pero may sarili pa rin silang mannerisms, the way they talk, pinag-aralan ko talaga siya.
"Ang sarap lang ng feeling na after ng lahat ng hirap mo, you'll get good feedback, you'll get good ratings.
Playing a kontrabida role for the first time, Kris feelst there were moments when she becomes Rosette even in real life.
The Starstruck: The Next Level female winner thinks that she is effective as the evil Rosette because she is playing a role that is not close to home.
She explains, "I mean, Nimfa kasi is me. Rosette kasi is not you but you have to portray it so nadadala mo talaga siya lalo na pag galing ka lang sa eksena or kailangan mo magconcentrate sa isang feeling, kunyari yung irritating feeling, you have to concentrate on that.
"So siyempre, lahat ng lumalapit sa akin, make-up artist ko, parang naiirita ako agad."
Kris is especially happy that many people still watch the show even though it is a remake.
Impostora is the 2017 TV adaptation of the comics serial Sa Isang Sulok ng mga Pangarap, which was turned into a movie in 1994 starring Alice Dixson in the roles of Nimfa and Rosette.
In 2007, GMA-7 made its own version with a slightly different storyline starring Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters recently spoke to Kris during a visit to the set of Impostora at the Urology Center of the Philippines in Quezon City.
When Kris faced the press during the set visit, she was on "Nimfa mode."
HURTING HERSELF. Another challenge that Kris had to face was shooting confrontation scenes by herself!
It became even more difficult for her since this is the first time that she portrayed a kontrabida role.
"Kasi never kong na-experience yun, di ba, so ngayon pa lang. Kumbaga bagong challenge sa akin so bagong atake.
In one instance, Kris had to release all of her emotions while talking only to a long stick! There was even a time when she had to act in a scene with nothing at all.
Here is one of her Instagram stories showing how she managed to pull off a scene without speaking to anyone:
The 28-year-old actress discloses, "Ganun talaga everytime.
"So kailangan talaga may mga sarili kang personal hugot. Mahirap wala kang kaeksena, e.
According to the Kapuso star, it takes almost two hours to shoot Nimfa and Rosette's confrontation scenes.
In the GMA-7 afternoon shows Ika-6 Na Utos and Haplos, they hired a fight instructor to guide the stars in their physically strenuous catfights.
However, Kris said that Impostora didn't get a fight instructor for their catfights. Instead, they hired a body double for the Kapuso actress.
Between Nimfa and Rosette, which character does Kris enjoy portraying more?
"Pero mas gusto kong pinoportray si Rosette kasi ang sarap pala maging mataray!" she ended with a laugh.
