Jason Abalos transfers to GMA-7 after 12 years of being with ABS-CBN.
The new Kapuso signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network on October 3, 2017.
GMA SVP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable and SVP Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara were present during the contract signing held at the GMA Network Center.
"Bagong mundo sa akin ito, e, pero kung ano man yung naging trabaho ko sa pinanggalingan ko, pwede ko pong madala dito, saka mas magpursigi pa," Jason was quoted as saying in an interview with gmanetwork.com.
"Siyempre po, bago lahat, e—bagong mukha, bagong environment, bagong adventure."
The 32-year-old actor said he looks forward to working with Kapuso stars.
He named Kapuso actors Mark Herras and Rocco Nacino as some of his friends whom he met through basketball.
REASON FOR TRANSFERRING. Jason was last seen in the 2016 daytime teleserye Langit Lupa of ABS-CBN.
Why did he decide to leave the Kapamilya network and transfer to Kapuso, the rival network?
Addressing the elephant in the room—is he transferring because he was neglected over at ABS-CBN?—the actor said clearly that the Kapamilya management took good care of him.
He also made clear that he had no conflict with anyone in ABS-CBN, and that he bid his former TV network a proper goodbye.
While he was still a Kapamilya, Jason was often tapped to be part of drama shows. This time, he wants to widen his horizons by trying his hand at comedy.
Jason revealed that one of his dream roles would be playing a superhero character like Iron Man.
"Ever since kasi, gusto kong maging superhero, e, parang ang sarap magkaroon ng super power, di ba?"
But in the end, he is leaving his career to his new network: "Basta ako, nagtitiwala ako sa kung anong ibibigay sa 'kin."
