Here's why Vice Ganda paid tribute to Eat Bulaga, other noontime shows

Vice Ganda considers the GMA-7 noontime show Eat Bulaga a source of inspiration. The ABS-CBN host also cited the now defunct noontime show MTB as well as Wowowin.

Vice Ganda paid tribute to Eat Bulaga and noontime shows which aired in the past, saying they have been sources of inspiration.

The ABS-CBN host said that the GMA-7 show Eat Bulaga is one of the programs that helped pave the way for It's Showtime.

As his way of recognizing the contributions made by these shows, Vice Ganda wrote about them on his Twitter account on Saturday, October 21.

Vice Ganda also thanked people for supporting It's Showtime, which celebrated its 8th anniversary with a week-long competition called "Magpasikat 2017."

The team led by Vhong Navarro emerged as the winner this year for its performance of a dance depicting the effects of depression.

Here are the tweets of Vice Ganda posted on his Twitter account (published as is):

"Congratulations and Thank you so much Team Vhong for that wonderful and very relevant number! We were blessed. #MagpasikatKuysVhong"

"Maraming Salamat Madlang People!!!Di matatawaran ang 8 taon nyong suporta. Sana po ay payagan nyo kaming makasama kayo ng mas mahaba pa."

"Maraming salamat sa mga naunang noon time show na nagbigay daan at inspirasyon samin tulad ng Eat Bulaga, Wowowin, MTB at marami pang iba."

Considered the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines, Eat Bulaga marked its 38th anniversary this 2017.

Wowowin is the game/variety show of Willie Revillame currently airing on GMA-7 on another time block.

Willie's previous show, Wowowee, aired on the noontime block of ABS-CBN for five years.

MTB stands for Magandang Tanghali Bayan or Masayang Tanghali Bayan, which stayed on the air for around five years on ABS-CBN.
