GMA-7 has released another omnibus plug showing the titles of the TV programs set to be aired this 2018.
The teaser was shown during the New Year Countdown event of GMA last December 31, 2017.
This included five shows previously announced through a separate omnibus plug: The One That Got Away, Sherlock Jr., Contessa, The Stepdaughters, and Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka.
These shows will air within the first quarter of 2018.
Meanwhile, GMA added 15 more titles that are set to air this year, including 11 TV series and four reality programs.
KWENTO NG PAGMAMAHALAN. The drama shows of the Kapuso network were segregated into two branches: Kwento ng Pagmamahalan and Kwento ng Pakikipaglaban.
No cast members have been announced yet regarding these TV shows, but the plug dropped hints regarding the plots of these TV shows.
The most prominent of these is THE CURE, which is about a family fighting against an epidemic.
It may be recalled that the show was already part of GMA's upcoming programs in 2013, without announcing any cast member.
The Cure was initially about a group of people trying to find a solution after zombies infested their town.
Back then, there were rumors that Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes were supposed to top-bill the show. However, the project was shelved and the LouDen tandem moved to another drama project titled Mundo Mo'y Akin.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) included this program in its November 2016 article that listed down Filipino TV shows that were shelved.
No word has been made about the cast of the 2018 series, but Louise can't join the show anymore since she is already part of ABS-CBN's Asintado. For his part, Alden will be part of a still-unannounced TV show.
Another teleserye to be aired by the Kapuso network is a love story that will unfold in ISANG LIBO'T ISANG GABI.
LA SOLTERA will tackle a love story that knows no age.
CLOSE TO YOU, on the other hand, will show a love story that will finally come true.
Lastly, stories about endless love will be tackled by shows LIFE AFTER DEATH and TO LOVE AGAIN.
KWENTO NG PAKIKIPAGLABAN. The second batch of titles mainly focus on characters who fight for their causes.
The first show on the list is titled MITHO, an adventure story about gods and goddesses.
SANGGANG DIKIT focuses on the struggles of the lead characters who fight against evil forces.
Also included in the list is the GMA News and Public Affairs series SIRKUS, which revolves around twins played by Mikee Quintos and Mikoy Morales. Viewers will see their struggles inside the world of Salamanca.
Fighting for true love will be depicted by the teleserye KARIBAL KO ANG AKING INA.
The search for truth will be the central topic in GANTI.
This is not the first time, however, that the Kapuso network will air a drama series titled Ganti.
In 2005, GMA's afternoon umbrella series Now and Forever aired an installment titled Ganti, starring Sheryl Cruz, Zoren Legaspi, Nadine Samonte, Cogie Domingo, and James Blanco. It ran from June to October 2005.
Ganti was also the title of the premiere offering of the Kapuso weekly drama anthology SRO Cinemaserye starring Sheryl Cruz, Marvin Agustin, Bianca King, Maxene Magalona, Arci Muñoz, and Geoff Eigenmann. The show had eight episodes from March to May 2009.
LARAWAN NG TAGUMPAY. The teaser showed GMA-7's upcoming reality shows that were announced in November 2017.
These are the Kapuso network's original talent shows THE CLASH and CENTER STAGE.
LIP SYNC BATTLE PHILIPPINES and STARSTRUCK will also return to Philippine television this 2018.
In an interview with GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable in December 2017, she excitedly told PEP.ph that they are gearing up for these talent programs.
She said, "We'll be having a very big talent reality search but it's going to be original. We're the home of original talent searches like StarStruck, and we have another one, yung The Clash. We are preparing for that."
More announcements regarding the airing of these shows will be made in the coming days.
