Louise delos Reyes will no longer be part of The Blood Sisters.
During the story conference of the Erich Gonzales-starrer last August 2017, it was announced that Louise will be a cast member of this Filipino teleserye.
However, the former GMA-7 actress was not seen in teasers that were released in December 2017. It was soon revealed that Louise became part of the afternoon series Asintado.
During the February 5 media conference of the show, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked director Jojo Saguin why Louise was pulled out from The Blood Sisters.
The director answered, "Naiba, supposedly kasi si Louise, ang original kasi noon, kambal pero hindi magkamukha.
"So parang yun yung original story, so siya yung isa. Parang hindi sila identical twins.
"E, naiba yung story kaya eventually nawala siya kasi naging identical na twins sila. Doon siya napunta [sa Asintado]."
CONCEPT AND COMPARISON. The first teaser of The Blood Sisters, which was released during the December 2017 Kapamilya trade launch, received mixed reviews from audiences.
There were people who were impressed by Erich's performance as the triplets Agatha, Carrie, and Erika.
However, some people noticed that the plot is similar to Saan Ka Man Naroroon, the Claudine Barretto teleserye wherein she played triplets named Rosario, Rosenda, Rosemarie.
According to Direk Jojo, it was the initiative of Dreamscape Entertainment Head Deo Endrinal to deliberately create a Filipino teleserye that is somewhat similar to the 1999 TV series.
Dreamscape is the unit helming the production of The Blood Sisters. In the past, Endrinal served as one of the creative consultants of Saan Ka Man Naroroon.
"Bale parang si Sir Deo was thinking na bakit hindi tayo bumuo ulit ng parang Saan Ka Man Naroroon ni Claudine with a different touch.
"Tapos pinag-isipan ng group. Madaming stages yun na nangyari hanggang sa nakabuo.
"Pero ito, instead na yung triplets na triplets talaga, mayroong thing about surrogacy para may millennial twist."
Director Jojo Saguin
In The Blood Sisters, Dina Bonnevie's character hired a woman, portrayed by Cherry Pie Picache, to serve as a surrogate mother and carry her child.
Surrogacy and twins were also tackled in the 2012 series Ina Kapatid Anak, which starred Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, and Cherry Pie.
Saguin also served as one of its directors.
Isn't the team scared that The Blood Sisters, which will premiere on February 12, will be compared to these other shows?
The director admitted, "May mga ganung ano kaya may mga twist-twist kami.
"Aside from the family story, meron din kaming on the business ng surrogacy."
ON ERICH GONZALES. Direk Jojo commended the show's lead actress, Erich.
The former On The Wings of Love director said, "Si Erich, as an actress, grown a lot compared doon sa dati niya.
"Nagulat nga ako because noong nag-usap kami about characterization, sabi ko ito si Carrie, ha, more or less Carrie close to her, di ba, kasi pasosyal, the rich girl na kaya naman niya kasi ursh-ursh [well-to-do] naman siya.
"Yung Agatha, bargas, taga-Baguio, will do anything para yumaman kahit tumapak ng tao."
There were times when Erich would break down after doing intense scenes while switching to different characters.
"Pero noong we shot that scene, ang galing-galing niya. Alam ko hirap siya talaga, papunta sa borderline na sa sira ulo pag yung after Carrie, meron kasi siyang pinakamahirap na certain time, bura ng make-up na isang day yung shoot.
"Yung Erika kasi as simple as possible powder lang yun, e, yung Carrie buo. So mga ilang beses namin yun ginawa na 'til 2 a.m. na parang yun lang ang ginagawa niya.
"Parang sinabi ko, 'O, kamusta ka?'
"She cried na lang, 'I'm so tired pero sige lang, let's go!' Maaano mo yung exhaustion, e."
Direk Jojo also allowed Erich to make her own interpretation of the characters.
"Yes. Tapos kung may mga ano, itatama na lang namin.
"O, you do muna your own thing, ha. Tapos kung merong injection tayo, gawin na lang natin. Open siya sa ganun, e."
