Ryan Eigenmann returns to ABS-CBN after nine years of being with GMA-7.
The 39-year-old actor was present during the March 15 press conference of his new Kapamilya show Bagani held yesterday at the Dolphy Theater.
In this prime-time series, he plays Sarimaw, one of the two brothers tasked to watch over the town of Sansinukob.
During the presscon, he was asked by a reporter what made him decide to return to ABS-CBN.
Ryan explained, "It was 9 years ago when I last did a show with ABS and nagdire-diretso ako sa GMA.
"I was under contract for a while.
"So ngayon, my contract expired last March last year and then they decided not to renew so ito na naman ako, back to freelancing."
Ryan's last project with GMA-7 was the recently-concluded afternoon series Impostora, while his last ABS-CBN show was the 2009 weekend series Tiagong Akyat.
Meanwhile, his last teleserye with the Kapamilya network was the 2008 fantasy series Lobo, which is also produced by the same unit helming Bagani.
How does it feel working again with Channel 2?
He answered with a smile, "It's been fun. It's been a lot of fun. I love these guys!"
However, he admitted that he felt apprehensive since it's been a long time since he last worked with ABS-CBN.
"Pero siyempre, nandoon yung apprehension, not working for a network for nine years.
"Pagbalik ko dun, will it be as comfortable as I am here (in GMA).
"But you know, it was all unfounded worry kasi first day ko pa lang, all of these guys, sila mismo yung lumapit, nagpakilala, they made me feel welcome. Walang issues or whatsoever, it was an easy transition."
Ryan first began his showbiz career in 1998 when he joined the youth-oriented series Growing Up, the spin-off series of the phenomenal teen show TGIS.
Prior to his teen actor days in Growing Up, Ryan first acted as a child star alongside Princess Punzalan and Helen Vela in the early '90s sitcom Family 3+1.
Since then, he was able to portray several roles in teleseryes of GMA-7, including Kirara: Ano Ang Kulay ng Pag-ibig? (1999), Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga (2001), and Te Amo: Maging Sino Ka Man (2004).
In 2005, Ryan was able to do the ABS-CBN drama series Mga Anghel na Walang Langit, which was followed by a stint in Maging Sino Ka Man in 2006, where he figured in a love triangle with Anne Curtis and Sam Milby.
