Avid fans and viewers of teleseryes are very vocal with their opinions about TV shows.
This often happens on social media, especially in the micro-blogging site Twitter, where fans usually hold Twitter parties.
Bloopers and outtakes from teleseryes usually become viral and top trending topics on social media.
For the period of January to April 2018, Twitter culled data to find out the five most-talked about teleseryes on Twitter. The results were announced on May 12.
Find out the three ABS-CBN teleseryes and two GMA-7 dramas that made it to the list:
1. La Luna Sangre
Starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, La Luna Sangre's episodes that aired from January to March 2018 always became trending topics on Twitter.
Through this social media site, viewers and fans voiced out their opinions about the ABS-CBN show.
One of the most significant episodes aired during these three months was the exit of Angel Locsin's Jacintha character. This prompted viewers to speculate if Jacintha was actually the future, older version of Malia, played by Kathryn.
Fans also noticed some technical problems that happened to the special effects of that particular episode, which were fixed in the recap of the next episode.
Bagani, which aired its pilot episode on March 5, is top-billed by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil.
Prior to the premiere of the Kapamilya show, Bagani already created buzz on social media when netizens started bashing the show for casting Liza and Enrique in the lead roles, mainly because of their Euro-centric features.
This was after people assumed that the series is set in pre-colonial times. However, business unit head Des Tanwangco said in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the show only got inspiration from Filipino mythology and it is not a historical show.
Bagani also trended on social media because of Dimples Romana's character Babaylan Gloria, where she used chants such as "Mekeni Mekeni tugtog do-re-mi" that received mixed reactions from audiences.
GMA-7 headwriter Suzette Doctolero criticized the writer of the show for the unflattering depiction of babaylans in Bagani.
The show also had a blooper when a cast member was seen wearing branded footwear in one scene.
Another trending moment in the show was Kristine Hermosa's comeback on ABS-CBN, after taking a hiatus from doing teleseryes for several years.
Wildflower, starring Maja Salvador, continuously created buzz until its last two months of airing, from January to February 2018.
One of the most trending moments in the show during its last two months was the death of Joseph Marco's character, who played the love interest of Maja's Lily Cruz character.
The show also caught the attention of netizens for its black and white scenes showing the torture of Lily Cruz in a town plaza.
Another instance that ignited discussion on social media was when GMA-7 released the teaser of its new show called Contessa, which is top-billed by Glaiza de Castro.
Wildflower fans said that Contessa is a copycat of the Kapamilya show, mainly because the Kapuso show also tackled revenge.
The competition between two shows did not happen because Wildflower already ended when Contessa made its debut on television.
4. Kambal Karibal
Kambal Karibal is top-billed by Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Pauline Mendoza, and Kyline Alcantara.
The GMA-7 show, which started airing on November 27, 2017, started getting high ratings when 2018 started.
This was when the rivalry between Crisan (Bianca) and Crisel (Pauline) intensified after Crisel went inside Cheska's (Kyline) body.
Because of the show's performance, the drama series was awarded with several extensions.
Just recently, Kambal Karibal became viral on social media when an "unrealistic" CPR scene was shown in the TV series.
The incident even ignited a heated social media exchange between TV host Ogie Diaz and Kambal Karibal creative manager Suzette Doctolero.
5. Sherlock Jr.
Sherlock Jr. featured the comeback of the Ruru Madrid-Gabbi Garcia love team after they pursued solo projects after Encantadia.
This was the reason why GabRu fans were surprised when Gabbi's character Lily was killed off in the middle of the show.
A lot of fans and viewers expressed shock and protest on social media, while Gabbi said on Twitter that it wasn't her decision to leave the show.
It was even rumored that the Kapuso talent would transfer to ABS-CBN but Gabbi denied this.
Despite Gabbi's departure from the show, Sherlock Jr. continued to air with episodes focusing on Jack (Ruru) and the dog named Siri until April 2018.
