Regine Velasquez on ABS-CBN reality show contestants joining The Clash: "Aware naman kami doon kasi siyempre hindi mo naman ine-expect na brand new lahat, but we don't discriminate."

Regine Velasquez is aware that some contestants of her new GMA-7 reality show The Clash came from ABS-CBN reality programs.

One of them is Jasmine Fitzgerald, a grand finalist in the second season of Star In A Million (2004).

Clashers Fatima Espiritu and Bryan Chong also auditioned in ABS-CBN's The Voice Teens in 2017.

These three contestants are now part of The Clash's Top 62.

According to Asia's Songbird, The Clash is open to anyone who wants to audition.

She said, "Aware naman kami doon kasi siyempre hindi mo naman ine-expect na brand new lahat, but we don't discriminate.

"As a matter of fact, ang kaibahan nito sa ibang singing contest na na-host ko, ito, walang age limit. Ang age namin is 16 up.

"E, malaking bagay yun, e, kasi mas marami ka talagang makukuhang magaling, e.

"So hindi kami nag-discriminate against age, against yung estado, yung itsura, kahit ano ka basta magaling ka kumanta.

"We're looking for the best singers in the country right now na hindi pa sumisikat."

Regine was part of the screening panel who went to different parts of the country to search for the Top 62 Clashers.

The screening panel was composed of OPM songwriter Vehnee Saturno, singer-composer and record producer Jay Durias, and director Bert de Leon.

Meanwhile, the judges of the competition are Lani Misalucha, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and Christian Bautista.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters spoke to Regine during the June 28 press conference of The Clash at Cities Events Place, Quezon City.

The program is set to premiere this Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8.

At this point, Regine also explained what will happen in the first two episodes of The Clash.

"Right now, when you see the initial telecast, it's one-on-one so mahirap pala yun, tanggal agad.

"Ganun siya. One-on-one, you battle it out, and then matira-matibay, bye bye.

"Lahat naman sila obviously, they're all good. They wouldn't be here, hindi nila mapapasa yung audition to begin with, so ang kalaban mo yung sarili mo, e.

"Kasi una yung choice of song, ikaw pumipili noon.

"Two, kung paano mo ide-deliver yung kanta mo, three, dapat ma-overcome mo yung fear o pagkanerbiyos mo kasi biruin mo makakaharap mo si Lani Misalucha, good luck.

"So I can't imagine the kind of pressure that they all feel, not to mention may kalaban kang pag narinig mo, magaling din.

"So yun, they need to go through all that proseso for them to be able to make it."
