Did Kambal Karibal commit a blooper regarding the tube used during a hospital scene?
In the finale episode aired on August 3, the character of Pauline Mendoza (who inhabited the body of Kyline Alcantara) was dying and she was hooked up to a mechanical ventilator to help her breathe. Bianca Umali's character was crying beside her.
A netizen using the handle @Jasfher posted a screenshot of the scene and asked: "Bakit siya nakakabit sa washing machine?"
He was referring to the plastic tubing that looked similar to the tubes used in washing machines.
Twitter user @nathanserrano tagged GMA-7's headwriter: "Madam @SuziDoctolero are they wrong"
GMA headwriter Suzette Doctolero used her Twitter account @SuziDoctolero answered by writing:
"Yes. Confirmed na legit yan. At tama. Ganyan talaga itsura Nung ginagamit na tubing sa ospital. So wrong ang mga mema dyan sa tweet na yan. Sama sama sila, wala man Lang Unalaska sa totoo except sa isa."
A netizen using the handle ram_papi_UAE_ (@rmv0123) replied to @SuziDoctolero by commenting:
"sorry pero mali po yan. hindi po pinapasok ang buong endotracheal tube. may certain level po depending on the size. dito po kasi pasok lahat, pati ang conmector. you could have asked the assistance of a nurse/doctor."
Suzette pointed out: "May nag assist na nurse sa production. Totoong nurse. Di peke. :)"
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) consulted a medical doctor regarding the scene and he indicated that there needs to be a separate endotracheal tube that is different from the plastic tubing used in the scene.
He explained that in a mechanical ventilation, the endotracheal tube is the one inserted into the trachea of the patient in order to provide air to the lungs. The plastic tubing shown in the Kambal Karibal scene should have been connected to a endotracheal tube first.
