Former Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist Mirriam Manalo is now one of the grand finalists of GMA-7's The Clash.

The Clash
finalist Mirriam Manalo joined other televised singing contests before trying her luck in the GMA-7 reality show.

Unfortunately, she usually does not make it to the finals.

"I've joined lots of contests before, even at the other station. I joined Tawag ng Tanghalan [of It's Showtime] and The Voice also.

"Dito naman, sumali na ako, Search for a Star and I'm still very young that time and also Pinoy Pop Superstar.

Never talaga akong nananalo as in di ako swerte, una pa lang ligwak na ako."

Mirriam was part of ABS-CBN's Tawag ng Tanghalan and The Voice's first batches.

How was her experience in Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT), the first singing competition where she was able to sing on live TV?

Hindi ako nanalo as daily winner."

This points out that this is the reason why there is a big difference between her experiences in Tawag ng Tanghalan and The Clash.

I don't know what's going on really.

"Meron kayong sariling room, e. And then magre-rehearsal lang kayo and then after that, kakanta na.

"Pero, I don't know kung ano pa yung meron kasi naligwak nga ako."

Mirriam spoke to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the grand media launch of The Clash Top 12 Clashers last August 29 at the Executive Lounge of GMA Network Center, Quezon City.

PREGGY SINGER.

While Mirriam was starting her stint in The Clash, she found out that she is an expecting mother.

Now four months pregnant, Mirriam admitted that it is scary for her part to belt out high notes because of her condition.

"Ang hirap kaya bumirit na buntis. Nakakatakot. 'Oh My God, any moment' [baka manganak].

Mirriam said that she did not think of backing out due to her condition.

During the presscon proper, most of the finalists said that they consider Mirriam as a threat.

How does she feel about this?

"Oo nga po, e. Nagulat ako.

"Flattered lang ako pero I don't want to consider that as an advantage.

"Gagawin ko pa rin po kung ano yung ginagawa ko before, I'll still give my 100 percent kasi lahat po 'yan, may magic, e.

"Sinasabi lang nila 'yan pero pag lahat 'yan tumuntong na sa stage, you'll never know what will happen.

"Lagi kong sinasabi, anything can happen talaga, e, kaya hindi ka pwede maging kampante.

"Every performance, kailangan dumoble yung binigay mo. Pero I'm very thankful na ganun pala yung tingin nila sa akin. I'm very happy."

The Clash, hosted by Regine Velasquez, airs every Saturday and Sunday on GMA-7's weekend prime-time block.
