ABS-CBN's prime-time series Halik—top-billed by Jericho Rosales, Yen Santos, Yam Concepcion, and Sam Milby—is the latest addition to the many teleseryes and movies tackling the controversial topic of infidelity.
Halik attempts to differentiate itself from other projects by veering away from the usual love triangles featuring the legal wife, the husband, and the mistress.
It features the love quadrangle of two couples: Lino (Jericho) and Jade (Yam), and Jacky (Yen) and Ace (Sam), whose lives become intertwined after Jade and Ace have an extramarital affair.
Lino and Jacky used to have a relationship in the past. Their cheating partners tried to cover up for their own sins by accusing Lino and Jacky of having their own affair.
Even though Jacky and Lino already found out about the infidelity of their partners, Jade and Ace continued with their illicit relationship.
This TV drama has become the newest talk of the town, and most of its episodes become top trending topics on Twitter.
In fact, its confrontation scenes and quotable quotes have become the source of memes and posts on social media.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) lists down 10 of Halik's quotable quotes:
1. "Akala mo ang ganda ganda mo? Pero dibdib lang ang meron ka! Pero ako, mula ulo hanggang paa, panlaban na!" – Jade Flores-Bartolome (Yam Concepcion) to Jacky Montefalco-Corpuz (Yen Santos)
WHAT HAPPENED: In the November 8 episode of Halik, which had the hashtag #SalpukangHalik, a drunk Jade (Yam Concepcion) created a scandalous scene at a party where Jacky (Yen Santos), Ace (Sam Milby), and Lino (Jericho Rosales) were all present.
Usherettes tried to stop the mistress from entering the venue.
Upon seeing Jacky with Ace, Jade became furious and confronted the legal wife.
Ace tried to stop Jade, but she kept on saying hurtful words about Jacky.
She shouted for everyone to hear, "Ikaw babae ka, akala mo ang ganda ganda mo? Pero dibdib lang ang meron ka! Pero ako, mula ulo hanggang paa, panlaban na! Tingnan mo nga yung sarili mo sa salamin, akala mo ang ganda-ganda mo porke't may dalawa kang ex dito, ganon? Ang kapal ng mukha mo! Wow, ang ganda mo, girl, grabe!"
Lino then stepped in and asked his ex-wife to go home, but to no avail.
Jacky told Ace, "'Yan pala ang mga tipong mong babae, 'no, Ace? Walang utak."
She turned to Jade and said, "Wala ka talagang pinipiling lugar sa pagkakalat, 'no? Kailangan mong mahimasmasan!"
Jacky grabbed a pitcher and spalshed water on Jade's face to stop her from making a scene.
2. "Sa susunod na magkikita tayo, ilayo mo yung mukha mo sa akin, ha. Sayang itsura mo." - Lino Bartolome (Jericho Rosales) to Ace Corpuz (Sam Milby)
WHAT HAPPENED: Prior to Jade making a scene at the party, Lino and Ace had a confrontation scene at the boys' restroom during the November 8 episode of Halik.
Ace accused Lino of using Jacky as leverage.
Lino answered, "Dahan dahan ka sa pambabaligtad mo, Ace, kung ayaw mong bumaliktad dito. Ngayon, kung gusto mong tapusin na natin ito dito, lock mo yung pinto. Tara?"
Ace asked, "Anong gagawin mo, babasagin mo yung mukha ko?"
Ace dared his rival to hit his face, but suddenly, businessman John Ricafort (Miko Raval) entered the restroom.
As Lino was about to leave the restroom, he whispered to Ace, "Sa susunod na magkikita tayo, ilayo mo yung mukha mo sa akin, ha. Sayang itsura mo."
3. "Mabuti pang umalis ka na. Mahirap na, baka may makakita sa ‘yo, lasunin ka. Bawal ang mga daga dito." – Helen Corpuz (Almira Muhlach) to Jade
WHAT HAPPENED: In the November 7 episode of Halik, Jade and Ace were supposed to have dinner at a fancy restaurant. However, Ace's mom Helen caught them. Helen is not in favor of Jade's presence in Ace's life.
The two ladies saw each other inside the restroom.
Helen warned Jade to stay away from them: "Mabuti pang umalis ka na. Mahirap na, baka may makakita sa ‘yo, lasunin ka. Bawal ang mga daga dito."
This left Jade stunned and dumbfounded.
4. "Kung ibibigay ko sa 'yo yung gusto mo at ipagpapalit mo ako sa isang tao na babasura sa 'yo, hanapin mo yung annulment mo sa ibang lugar." – Lino to Jade
WHAT HAPPENED: During the last part of Halik's November 2 episode, Jade met up with Lino to ask for an annulment.
To justify her act, Jade blamed Lino and insisted that he was having an affair.
In the end, Jade admitted that she wants to be with Ace because he can give her everything—especially material things—that Jade wanted from the very start, which Lino failed to give her.
Lino admitted that he already expected Jade to ask for an annulment.
However, he told her, "Kung ibibigay ko sa 'yo yung gusto mo at ipagpapalit mo ako sa isang tao na babasura sa 'yo, hanapin mo yung annulment mo sa ibang lugar."
Lino walked out and left the furious Jade who cried out of frustration.
5. "Eskandalo? Sorry, ha. Hindi ako ikaw." – Jacky to Jade
WHAT HAPPENED: In Halik's November 2 episode, Jade used Ace's car, which was left at her office.
Jacky, who happens to be in the area, was surprised to see the mistress using the car.
That same night, Jade was shocked to see that the car was being towed. Before she could call Ace to stop the towing, Jacky already appeared.
She shouted at Jade: "Sinong tatawagan mo? Si Ace? Huwag na, wala rin naman siyang magagawa, e."
Jade pleaded with Jacky, "Pwede ba, huwag kang mag-eskandalo dito?"
Jacky asked back, "Eskandalo? Sorry, ha. Hindi ako ikaw."
Jacky made it clear that she has the right to get the car since it is considered conjugal property, much to the humiliation of Jade.
6. "Sige na kuya, idiretso niyo na 'yan sa carwash, kailangang linising mabuti 'yan. Nanggigitata kasi sa dumi yung gumamit, e." – Jacky (referring to Jade)
WHAT HAPPENED: In the same episode, Jade threatened Jacky that she will tell Ace what happened.
Jacky simply answered, "Good! Paki sabi na rin next time, check with me regarding conjugal properties, para naman hindi kayo napapahiya nang ganito."
The legal wife turned to the men towing the car and said, "Sige na kuya, idiretso niyo na 'yan sa carwash, kailangang linising mabuti 'yan. Nanggigitata kasi sa dumi yung gumamit, e."
Before she left, Jacky pulled out a one-thousand peso bill from her bag and handed it to Jade, "Pang-taxi mo, wala ka nang kotse, e."
7. "Malaya ka na. Pwede na kayong magsama ng kabit mo! Teka, sino nga ba ang kabit? Siya o ikaw?" – Jacky to Ace
WHAT HAPPENED: In the #GantingHalik episode, which aired on October 30, Helen and Ace were both surprised to see luggage at the living room of Jacky and Ace's house.
Helen asked if Jacky will leave their house.
Jacky then declared that they were Ace's bags, and that she was kicking him out of their house.
Jacky turned to Ace and told him, "Malaya ka na. Pwede na kayong magsama ng kabit mo!"
Then she added: "Teka, sino nga ba ang kabit? Siya o ikaw?"
Helen tried to argue with her but Jacky remained firm in her decision.
8. "Sabi mo nga sa akin, ang lakas ng radar mo sa kabit. Pero ano pong nangyari? Bakit pagdating diyan sa anak niyo, hindi na gumana? O baka naman nagbubulag-bulagan lang kayo?" – Jacky
WHAT HAPPENED: In the same scene, Helen slapped Jacky for calling Ace a cheater.
Helen still insisted that they should fix their marriage, or she will do something against Jacky.
The mother of Ace even threatened, "You know what I am capable of."
This did not scare Jacky and instead, she told her mother-in-law, "Alam ko po, alam na alam ko po. Nanghihinayang nga po ako, e. Kasi gustong-gusto kong matuto sa inyo.
"Sabi mo nga sa akin, ang lakas ng radar mo sa kabit. Pero ano pong nangyari? Bakit pagdating diyan sa anak niyo, hindi na gumana? O baka naman nagbubulag-bulagan lang kayo?"
Helen tried to slap Jacky one more time but Ace stopped her and decided to leave the house.
9. "Oh, e, anong problema mo sa kabit? E, di ba, fan na fan ka nga ni Jade?" – Jacky to Marissa (Nina Dolino), Jade's friend
WHAT HAPPENED: Before kicking Ace out of their house, Jacky went to Jade's office and tried to confront her.
However, Jacky and her friends Chari (Chai Fonacier) and Ken (Hero Angeles) only saw Jade's best friend Marissa.
After being barraged by questions from Chari and Ken, Marissa refused to disclose Jade's whereabouts.
Ken then told her, "Paano mo nagagawang kunsintihin ang pang-aagaw ng asawa ng kaibigan mo? Oh, siguro, kabit ka rin, ano?"
Marissa was about to slap Ken when Jacky stopped her.
Jacky told her, "Tinatanong ka nang maayos, mananampal ka?"
Marissa retaliated, "Maayos ba yung tawagin akong kabit?"
Jacky answered, "Oh, e, anong problema mo sa kabit? E, di ba, fan na fan ka nga ni Jade?"
Before they left Marissa, Jacky issued a threat: "Sabihin mo diyan sa kaibigan mo, kahit magtago siya, hahanapin ko siya. Maghaharap at maghaharap kami, at pag nangyari yun, mag-standby kayo ng ambulansya dahil sisiguraduhin kong mao-ospital siya!"
10. "Totoo pala ang kasabihan, nakakahawa ang kati. Kaya siguro ang lakas ng loob ng kaibigan mo, ikaw kasi ang nagtuturo!" – Helen to Marissa
WHAT HAPPENED: In Halik's October 23 episode, dubbed as #MapanlokongHalik, Helen rushed to Marissa's house and looked for Jade.
Marissa tried to hide Jade and faced Helen instead.
Helen asked Marissa, "Ilabas mo yung haliparot mong kaibigan kung ayaw mong madamay."
Marissa answered, "Nasa pamamahay kita kaya wala kang karapatang pagsalitaan ako nang ganyan, at lalo nang wala kang karapatang mangialam kung sinong gusto kong patuluyin dito sa bahay ko."
Helen taunted her by saying, "Totoo pala ang kasabihan, nakakahawa ang kati. Kaya siguro ang lakas ng loob ng kaibigan mo, ikaw kasi ang nagtuturo!"
Marissa asked, "Anong ibig mong sabihin?"
Helen accused Marissa of being a mistress because of her properties as a single woman. Marissa pointed out that those are gifts from her ex-husband.
Helen said, "I've faced a lot of mistresses in my life, hija, all of them, at alam ko ang hilatsa ng mga mukha nila, ninyong lahat! So go ahead, protektahan mo 'yang kaibigan mo."
Helen turned around and raised her voice, making sure that Jade will hear her message:
"In the end, lahat naman kayo may presyo. Bibigay at bibigay din kayo. So name your price, Jade Bartolome! Kahit magkano, just stay the hell away from my son!"
