"We will seriously consider filing legal action and imposing sanctions including the prohibition on the use of PNP uniforms, properties and even using the acronym of the organization (PNP) if Ang Probinsyano continues with their grossly unfair and inaccurate portrayal of our police force," ani Malaya sa pamamagitan ng statement na inilabas kahapon, November 16.
Ayon kay Malaya, pwede rin nilang kasuhan ang mga producers dahil sa "illegal use of uniforms or insignia" base sa Article 179 ng Revised Penal Code.
Dagdag pa niya: "We are also looking at possible violations of the Children's Television Act of 1997 because the show may have violated the National Council for Children's Television standards for television programs that should be child-friendly."
Paniniwala ni Secretary Año, ang producers ng Ang Probinsyano ay "intentionally sending a wrong message to the public which is demoralizing the ranks of the PNP.
We have a few bad eggs but they are never tolerated and the DILG and PNP leadership is sweeping the ranks of the police organization to ensure that those 'rotten tomatoes' will be out of service."
Dagdag pa ni Secretary Año: "While they [Ang Probinsyano] provide entertainment to the public, they also have moral and ethical responsibilities in what they do."
"We are grateful because the series not only honors his [FPJ's] legacy in the industry, but also offers to the Filipino televiewers quality entertainment that espouses the values of family, respect for elders, courage and patriotism.
"It is fictional, of course, and carved out of the creative minds of the people behind the production. The story emanates from the source material, with bits of twists. There are antagonists in the story, which did not only include the police, but many others.
"But let’s look at the bigger picture of the entire plot. And that is, despite the wrongdoings happening around us, there are cops like Cardo, and his team, who will always fight for what is right and just.
"Let’s not overlook the redeeming value this has to offer. In the end, the menace will be subdued by what is true and good.
"How the people view the police is based on the actions of the real police they see on the streets, and not on the acting of fictional cops they watch on screen."
