GMA-7 premiered its new afternoon drama series, Inagaw Na Bituin, last Monday, February 12.
The Kapuso series begins in the present when Elsa (Kyline Alcantara) is about to stage her concert.
While singing the song "Kinang," she gets shot by an unknown gunman on stage.
The episode then showed a flashback to the year 2002 when Lucy (Angelika dela Cruz) was a popular bar singer.
She had her younger sister Belinda (Sunshine Dizon) serving as her personal assistant. Her boyfriend, Edward (Marvin Agustin), served as the composer of her songs.
However, she believed that Edward's songs were lame and wouldn't bring her to stardom.
Instead, it was Belinda who appreciated Edward's compositions. When Edward caught her singing his composition, he encouraged her to show more confidence.
In their household, Lucy showed her arrogant side as she became the breadwinner of their family.
Apparently, Lucy has ill feelings towards her mother, Regina (Jackie Lou Blanco). This was because Regina decided to give away Lucy to her sister, Mina, after the death of their father.
Lucy also believes that Regina favors Belinda more than her.
Regina, thinking that she owes Lucy a lot because of what happened, allowed Lucy to act arrogantly in their house.
During a bar gig, Lucy met Wolfgang (Ramon Christopher), a rich man who expressed his admiration for her.
Thinking that Wolfgang would give her a better life, Lucy accepted his gift and kissed him on the cheek. This was witnessed by Belinda. Lucy did not know that Edward also saw what happened.
After the band's performance, Wolfgang escorted Lucy while going down the stage. Out of frustration and jealousy, Edward punched Wolfgang, causing a commotion that was captured by the press.
Lucy blamed Belinda, thinking that it was her who told Edward about Wolfgang.
Later, during an out-of-town gig, Lucy made everyone (her band and the audience) wait for her.
Thinking that Lucy wouldn't show up, Edward asked Belinda to sing for them.
The audience responded positively to Belinda's performance. Lucy suddenly arrived and became furious because of what she witnessed.
She then tried to drive Belinda away from their house. Regina stopped them from fighting, but Lucy asked their mother to choose who would stay in their house.
In the end, Lucy left her family and stayed at Wolfgang's house. She eventually abandoned her singing career and lived the life of a rich girl.
This gave Belinda a chance to shine, and make a name for herself in the recording scene. Belinda also won Edward's heart.
