24 Oras, GMA News and Public Affairs' flagship news program, will now air seven days a week.
Anchoring 24 Oras Weekend are news producer Jiggy Manicad and anchor-reporter Pia Arcangel, working journalists both.
Both Manicad and Arcangel look forward to working together and bringing the public up-to-speed on breaking stories here and around the world.
Manicad's edge and added value to the newscast—his many foreign assignments to include Afghanistan, Israel (Gaza), Iraq, Lebanon, the evacuation of Filipinos from Syria, Iran, the US elections and Inauguration of Barack Obama, Garduce's historic climb to the summit of Mt. Everest, and the humanitarian effort in Haiti following the catastrophic quake—on top of fifteen years in the profession.
Arcangel also still works the beat when she's not anchoring the weekday midday newscast Balitanghali on Q Channel 11.
So expect lively exchanges with on-site reporters during live reports on 24 Oras Weekend; both anchors know exactly how it feels to report a story live and will know exactly what questions to ask to help the report along and give viewers a feel of the atmosphere or drama of a story as it unfolds.
Both will also actively participate in developing stories for the newscast.
24 Oras Weekend airs every Saturday (after Wish Ko Lang) and Sunday (after Kap's Amazing Stories), starting this Sunday, February 21.
