The friendly alien Kokey is back on primetime television via Kokey@Ako

"Comedy siya na kukurot din sa puso ninyo," says director Wenn Deramas (third from left) about his newest TV series Kokey@Ako. This fantasy series stars (from left) Toni Gonzaga, Kyle Balili, Philip Nolasco, Kekay, Kokey, Jason Francisco and Melai Cantiveros. Vhong Navarro (not in photo) is cast as the love interest of Toni’s character.

The well-loved alien named Kokey returns to the small screen via Kokey@Ako on weeknights starting tonight, September 20, on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

Kokey, dubbed as "pambansang pinyoko (friend)," was last seen on television in 2007 and he’s back to find his younger sister named Kekay. During his search on Planet Earth, the cute alien will meet Jackie (played by Toni Gonzaga), whose parents were abducted by aliens when she was younger.

However, their mission to find their loved ones will become tough as the aliens of Planet Kukurikabu plot to invade the Earth and exterminate humankind after being betrayed by a fellow alien named Belat.

Prince Belat is the key to finding Jackie’s parents. However, he accidentally assumes the body of Bruce (played by Vhong Navarro), Jackie’s great love. He will try to help Kokey and Jackie fulfill their goals but one of them must die to save mankind.

Kokey@Ako director Wenn Deramas says it took a few years before making a follow up series on Kokey because he was waiting for a better story.

At the presscon of the show recently, he told the media, "Ito po, matagal na nilang sinasabi sa akin na, ’Gumawa ka na ng part two.’

Then he related how Kokey@Ako is related to the first series, which was actually a TV adaptation of the 1997 movie titled Kokey.

Direk Wenn explained, "Una po sa lahat, ’yong Kokey po ngayon, para siyang prequel at part two at the same time.

For this series, Direk Wenn promises not only more fun but also relevant lessons in life.

Joining Toni and Vhong in the cast are former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, Gloria Romero, Nova Villa, Mickey Ferriols, Candy Pangilinan, and Wendy Valdez. Also, Maricel Laxa, Christian Vasquez, and comediennes Joy Viado, Debraliz and RubiRubi. Child actors like Kyle Balili, Abby Bautista, Amy Nobleza, Philip Nolasco, and Bugoy Carino will also be part of this newest primetime show.

Don’t miss the landing of Kokey’s spacecraft on Planet Earth starting tonight, September 20, before TV Patrol on ABS-CBN.
