ABS-CBN claims leadership in nationwide figures, based on data from Kantar Media

Vampires and werewolves of ABS-CBN’s newest fantasy series Imortal took their first bite on the nationwide viewership shares and scored a rating of 34.4% on its premiere episode beating its rival program. GMA-7’s Grazilda had a rating of 22.7% that night, according to data from Kantar Media.

The primetime fantaserye topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin immediately hit second place with a rating of 34.4% when it premiered last October 4 and it was only a decimal point behind top-rater Noah, starring Piolo Pascual and Zaijian Jaranilla (34.5%).

A report furnished by the corporate communications department of ABS-CBN points out that Imortal, the latest addition to the line-up, "beefs up" its primetime block this October. The said report also indicates that the Kapamilya Network is picking up from its dominance nationwide last September where it scored an average audience share of 40% versus GMA-7 with 34%.

TV5 ranked third with an average audience share of 8%, based on nationwide figures from Kantar Media. However, PEP Scoopbox recently reported that based on AGB Nielsen data culled from Megatam Individual ratings last Saturday, October 9, TV5 enjoyed an audience share of 32%, putting it in first place. GMA-7 came in second with 29.6% and ABS-CBN landed on third place with 23.1%. This covered shows aired from 6 PM to 10 PM.

Fourth placer Studio 23 is fast catching up with 5% share nationwide or only three points behind TV5. Its audience share has been on an uptrend since January month-on-month.

Nine out of the top ten most-watched programs nationwide for September were produced by ABS-CBN. These are Agua Bendita (32.6%), Noah (34.1%), TV Patrol (32.6%), Wansapanataym (29.1%), Momay (27.7%), Maalaala Mo Kaya (27.4%), iDOL (26.9%), Kokey@Ako (25.9%), and TV Patrol Weekend (24.8%).


ABS-CBN claims to be the leader on weekend programming based on national figures. Wansapanataym, Maalaala Mo Kaya, and TV Patrol Weekend were among its top-raters and no other weekend programs from GMA-7 and TV5 made it to the overall top 20 chart.

Meanwhile, noontime program Pilipinas Win na Win already bounced back to the top 15 programs nationwide last Monday (October 4). The corporate communications department of the Kapamilya Network says the the said noontime show is "gaining momentum" on its time block since it introduced its new hosts called The Hitmakers, composed of Rico J. Puno, Marco Sison, Rey Valera, and Nonoy Zuniga.

ABS-CBN’s AM radio station DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 continues to conquer radio airwaves in Mega Manila for the month of August with an audience share of 32% based on the 2010 Nielsen Mega Manila RAM. Its FM counterpart Tambayan 101.9, on the other hand, remains steady at the number two spot among all FM stations.

Kantar Media, a global market research group, offers audience research measurement systems in 32 countries. It started releasing its Philippine television audience measurement data in February 2009 with panels composed of 1,370 representative households covering urban Philippines and reporting on seven sectors namely the National Capital Region, North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
