Marian Rivera makes her first appearance in Amaya; GMA-7’s epicserye tops primetime race in Mega Manila

Marian Rivera led the cast who took part in a roadshow hailed as GMA-7’s "most successful in terms of audience numbers." She was seen for the first time last night, June 7, on the epicserye Amaya.

Last night, June 7, marked the first time that Marian Rivera appeared on GMA-7’s epicserye, Amaya.

According to an update posted in PEP Alerts, the first appearance of Marian Rivera on Amaya last night got 27.6 percent in the Household ratings of AGB Nielsen Phils among Mega Manila households, to take the first place in the primetime race and overall ratings.

GMA-7’s family drama, Munting Heredera, came in second with 24.7%; 100 Days to Heaven was in third place with 24.2%; while Guns and Roses and Secret Garden tied in fourth place with 22%; Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin took fifth place with 21.9%. Daytime race was ruled by Eat Bulaga! with 26%

In last night’s episode, Amaya was shown training with her father, Datu Bugna (Raymond Bagatsing). Because he gave more time and attention to Amaya, her older half-sister Marikit (Rochelle Pangilinan) became envious of her and mocked her for having "dugo of an uripon" (blood of a slave).

Coming to her defense is her half-sister Binayaan (Glaiza de Castro) who continues to care for Amaya even though Marikit disapproves.

Last night’s episode also marked the first time that Sid Lucero, who is cast as Bagani, was seen for the first time in the epicserye.


KICK OFF IN PANGASINAN. The cast of Amaya recently staged a "record-breaking" two-day roadshow in North Central Luzon last June 4 and June 5.

According to GMA-7, thousands of fans and local residents turned up to see the lead stars of Amaya headlined by Primetime Queen Marian Rivera for the event held in Pangasinan, Pampanga, Cabanatuan and Nueva Ecija. The roadshow is considered to be the Kapuso network’s "most successful in terms of audience numbers."

The roadshow kicked off with a Kapuso Mall Show in SM City’s Rosales Event Center in Pangasinan last Saturday, June 4. Fans reportedly waited outside the mall premises hours before the show actually started. An estimated crowd of 5,000 went wild as the cast—Marian Rivera, Rochelle Pangilinan, Glaiza de Castro, Mikael Daez, Dion Ignacio, Sheena Halili and AJ Dee—stepped onto the stage wearing their Amaya costumes.

The artists performed special production numbers in front of the live audience. AJ captivated the fans with his rendition of the romantic ballad, "I’ll Be". Dion appeared and sang the popular song, "Your Love". The viewers also cheered when Sheena went onstage with the song titled "The Show."


The crowd went even crazier when sultry actress Rochelle showed off her booty-shaking dance moves and performed her hit single "Baile." She even invited one female fan from the audience for a dance showdown. Meanwhile, Glaiza serenaded the spectators with Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way".

Mikael Daez, who is cast as Lumad in the series, was called onstage for a special game with two lucky female fans. The crowd roared with excitement when the ladies gamely kissed Mikael and hugged him.

But the massive uproar erupted when the main star of Amaya, Marian Rivera, showed up and took the centerstage. While she sang in front of the audience, Marian gamely posed for pictures with her excited fans and even shook hands with them.

The mall show ended with the whole cast appearing onstage once more to personally thank the audience for their warm welcome, and invited them to support Amaya on GMA Telebabad.Twenty lucky Pangasinenses were given a chance to have pictures with the whole cast. Kapuso comedian Mike "Pekto" Nacua and Amaya cast member, Wendell Salgado, served as hosts of the successful mall show.


AMAYA STARS IN DAGUPAN CITY. The Amaya convoy traveled next to Dagupan for the motorcade around the main streets of the city. The entire cast donned their Amaya costumes and gathered in the float which was built like the Karakoa ship used in the epic series.

According to GMA-7, around 100,000 people waited patiently at Perez St, Del Pilar St, Burgos St, Tapuac St and Lucao St to get a glimpse of the Kapuso stars.

After the motorcade, Marian, Rochelle, Glaiza, Sheena, Mikael, Dion and AJ proceeded to CSI The City Mall Dagupan Atrium for the Kapuso Mall Show. The evening became doubly memorable when the cast went up the stage to thank the Pangasinenses.

The stars gamely joined in on the fun and participated in a game with some members of the audience. Rochelle, Glaiza, Sheena, Mikael, Dion and AJ performed various song and dance numbers for the Kapusos in the jam-packed event center. When Marian was called in next, the Primetime Queen was greeted with ear-splitting cheers from the crowd. Marian even egged on the audience to dance along with her signature hit song, "Sabay, Sabay Tayo".


The mall show was capped off with a dance showdown of the Kapuso stars together with 20 lucky fans who got a rare chance to share the stage with their favorite celebrities.

SAN FERNANDO CITY. The second day of the roadshow began with a Kapuso Mall Show in SM City Pampanga Event Center San Fernando City on Sunday. Wearing their intricately-designed Amaya costumes, the cast one by one appeared onto the stage to greet the crowd, which reportedly numbered around 10,000 people, in the event venue.

The loudest cheers of the day were heard when Marian emerged and charmed Pampangeños with her sense of humor and showmanship. She even greeted the crowd using the Kapampangan dialect.

CABANATUAN CITY. After their mall show in Pampanga, Marian, Sid Lucero, Mikael, Glaiza, Sheena, Dion, AJ and Buboy Villar hit the road for their motorcade in Cabanatuan City. It was an overwhelming scene as a crowd estimate of half a million swarmed the streets of Burgos and Maharlika Highway to greet and cheer on the cast in the Karakoa float.


The motorcade, which was the Kapuso Network’s first-ever major event in the city, drew fans who were smiling and waving at the delighted Amaya cast.

Right after the motorcade, Marian together with the rest of the cast performed at the Kapuso Mall Show in NE Pacific Mall Parking Lot Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. Sid even showcased his talent of playing the keyboard and singing onstage.

But the evening’s highlight was the grand appearance of Kapuso network’s Primetime Queen. Marian gave an all-out performance singing and dancing along with the audience. She even called on the other Amaya cast members to join and dance with her. The extravaganza concluded with a dance face-off of the whole cast with 20 lucky Amaya fans who joined them onstage.

Aside from the various performances from the artists and on-ground presentations, an audio visual presentation of the pilot week of Amaya and the epic series’ music videos were played throughout the two-day mall shows in the event venues.
