Last December 13, the Smart Araneta Coliseum was filled with thousands of Filipinos to witness ABS-CBN’s annual Christmas special.
Dubbed as "Da Best Ang Pasko Ng Pilipino: The 2011 ABS-CBN Christmas Special," viewers can watch the star-studded event on ABS-CBN this Saturday and Sunday, 9:30p.m.
On that night, KC was seen sporting a new haircut: a bob with sideswept bangs.
KC recently left Star Magic to sign a three-year contract with Mr. Vic del Rosario’s Viva Entertainment. This makes KC one of Viva’s talents along with her mother, Sharon Cuneta; Anne Curtis; Sarah Geronimo; and Cristine Reyes.
During the first part of the opening number, KC, Anne, Sarah, Jericho Rosales, Vina Morales, and many more performed a medley of Christmas songs such as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Let it Snow," and "Deck the Halls."
After performing several songs, the celebrities suddenly moved to the side of the stage to leave an open space in the middle. Piolo Pascual suddenly appeared onstage to perform "Feliz Navidad." Halfway through the song, the other performers slowly went near Piolo as part of their choreography.
KC Concepcion, who was standing on the right side of the stage, moved closer to her ex-boyfriend until she was a few inches away from him. The crowd cheered as they saw the two former lovers standing next to each other as they continued singing "Feliz Navidad."
In this Christmas special, viewers will also get to see Star Magic artists like Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee, Jodi Sta. Maria, Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo and many others jazz up the evening with their glitzy production numbers.
Love teams of various ABS-CBN shows performed romantic songs for their fans. These include the love teams of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla; Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee; Shaina Magdayao and Jake Cuenca; as well as Maja Salvador and Jason Abalos.
The Kapamilya Network also took this opportunity to introduce upcoming shows for 2012. One of these is Walang Hanggang, which will feature the much-awaited comeback of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta. Together with their fellow cast members, the two will sing a romantic song. This show will also prompt the beginning of Coco Martin and Julia Montes’ new love team.
Hosts of Happy Yipee Yehey! will also perform their Christmas hits from gold record album HYY Nananana.
Another special guest that evening was Vic Sotto, who had a production number with Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas to promote their Star Cinema co-produced film Enteng Ng Ina Mo.
To inspire every Filipino family to welcome "Da Best" Christmas, ABS-CBN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Eugenio Lopez III and ABS-CBN President and Chief Operating Officer Charo Santos-Concio will give their Christmas messages.
