As newcomer Carla Abellana prepares to take on the lead role in Rosalinda, critics are waiting to see if her career will take on a trajectory similar to that of Marian Rivera, who shot to fame by essaying the lead role in Marimar, another Mexican telenovela hit.
How is Carla handling the inevitable comparison to her predecessor?
"Walang problema sa akin," she tells YES! magazine in their special YES! Most Beautiful issue, which features Carla in the Faces to Watch category, "Mas gusto ko nga iyong gano'n, kasi at least people have someone to compare me to. Flattering iyon on my part. Kasi I'm being compared to them, they're already celebrities. I'm a nobody. I see it as a good thing."
At present, Carla is busy with her workshops in acting, dancing, and singing to prepare for the role that could either make or break her career, she admits to feeling the pressure as she says, "Malaki iyong pressure. Kasi unang-una, who am I? Then the project is really big. Mahirap pero kakayanin. I'll take it one day at a time."
Carla's leading man Geoff Eigenmann also makes it to the list of YES! 100 Most Beautiful Stars, which includes him in the Boys Next Door category.
