As the phenomenal four-month run of My Husband’s Lover (MHL) draws to a close in early October, YES! magazine pieces together stories and photos of the GMA-7 soap that made primetime TV exciting again.
Out on September 20, this issue goes behind the show’s scenes to give readers the back-story, highlights, interesting info, fun facts, and juicy details.
Top stars Dennis Trillo (as Eric, the gay lover), Carla Abellana (as Lally, the embattled wife), and Tom Rodriguez (as Vincent, the erring husband) reveal their true feelings about being part of the groundbreaking gay-themed soap.
Carla maintains she had no qualms accepting the project. “We are a conservative country—pero ako, naniniwala talaga na ready na ’yong people,” she points out.
Dennis, who was initially apprehensive about playing gay in a daily series, doesn’t find his intimate scenes with Tom difficult to pull off. “Dahil siguro seryoso kami mismo sa trabaho namin,” he says.
Tom agrees: “The craft of acting is so powerful na for a brief moment, you could really embody another person.”
Now that MHL is ending, Carla confesses that she won’t miss playing Lally but she will miss all the people that she has worked with.
Dennis, on the other hand, is so happy about the show itself that saying goodbye makes him very sad.
Tom, who benefited most from the show’s success, considers MHL special to him because “it sparks healthy debates for all the characters.”
The October issue of YES! magazine also features Kapuso actress Katrina Halili in her own private paradise located in her hometown, El Nido, in the province of Palawan.
She happily reports how her life has been since giving birth to Katy, her one-year-old daughter with singer Kris Lawrence.
Another must-read in the magazine is the life story of box-office director Wenn V. Deramas, who also gives YES! a tour of his fun, funky home.
