According to New York-based fitness training studio founder and personal trainer Doug Sklar, boxing provides a dynamic workout for the body.
“It requires you to move your body through multiple planes of motion—forward and backward, side to side, and rotational.
“Most people tend to focus their workouts on the sagittal plane [moving forward and backward], missing important components of a true full-body workout."
Fellow personal trainer Mike DellOrfano added, “Boxing gives you both an anaerobic workout from the explosive power needed to throw punches and kicks and a [cardio] exercise from the oxygen you need to perform over an extended period of time.”
Another plus about boxing is that a 15 to 20-minute session is already sufficient for your body to work up a sweat and get you fired up.
