A living legend in Philippine fashion, Mang Ben has foresight, the mark of a true innovator.
Before traditionalization became in vogue, he celebrated local fabrics such as piña, jusi, and hablon through his Muslim- and ethnic-inspired creations. And his belief in the exquisiteness of Filipino craftmanship has become the underpinning of his work as a fashion designer nonpareil.
It is only apt that his life and work would be honored at the close of this year's Philippine fashion week in Ben Farrales: A Retrospective.
