Rocco Nacino not yet ready to do intimate scenes with a fellow actor

Rocco Nacino stars in the indie film Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa, where he had to learn ballet, contemporary, and ethnic dance.

At the Cinemalaya 2011 presscon yesterday, June 8, where trailers of the featured film entries were showcased to the press, Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa by writer-director Alvin Yapan and executive producer Alemberg Ang got the most intriguing reaction from the audience.

The film stars Jean Garcia and Kapuso young stars Paulo Avelino and Rocco Nacino. (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Rocco who shared a few details about his first film.

"It’s a love triangle with a twist. Sobrang galing ng pagkakagawa nito!

"They actually made four trailers for this. Yung tatlo is different points of view sa characters namin nila Paulo and Ms. Jean.

"Ang galing, mapapaisip talaga yung mga tao, ’Ano ba talaga sila? Ano ba sila sa isa’t isa?’

"It’s a nice concept, art talaga.

"We’ve been receiving nice comments sa trailers kaya I’m very proud to be part of this film," said Rocco.

There are many scenes in the movie that required him to dance. Did he train for it?

"Yes. Me, Ms. Jean, and Paulo had dance workshops for ballet, contemporary dance, and ethnic dance under Eli Jacinto who is very well known for ballet.

"For one month, we did that.

"After Party Pilipinas, takbo na ako agad sa workshop sa Las Piñas at magre-rehearse kami buong hapon hanggang gabi."

Party Pilipinas is the GMA-7 musical-variety show where Rocco regularly performs every Sunday afternoon.

Was it hard training for this kind of dance?

"Mahirap, kasi sa Party Pilipinas I do hip hop, e," he said.

"Dito po sa contemporary [dance], everything has to be stiff.

"Yung expressions at emotions ko, dapat matigas, lalakeng-lalake ang dating.

"Sa hip hop, puwede kang malambot, e.

"Nung una, nahirapan talaga ako kasi nai-incorporate ko pa yung moves ko sa hip hop, pero nung tumagal nakuha ko rin.

"And during [shootings] namin, andun din naman si Sir Eli to guide us."

INTIMATE SCENES. The film’s trailer seems to suggest that there is a romantic connection between Rocco’s character and Paulo’s. Are we expecting to see intimate scenes between the two of them?

"Wala naman," said the 24-year-old actor.

"Actually, isa yun sa reason kaya tinanggap ko ’tong project.

"I asked kung may mga gano’ng scenes, kasi kung meron, hindi pa ako ready.

"Pero wala naman, and inalagaan naman nila kami [sa set].

"They made sure that no scene was too much for us."

How about intimate scenes with Jean Garcia?

"Wala rin, e," he replied.

"I’m sure many would like to see scenes like that, me getting intimate with Ms. Jean, or si Ms. Jean and Paulo, or even me and Paulo, pero wala talagang ganun.

"The focus talaga is on the story and the poetry, kasi the story is based sa poetry."

MAY-DECEMBER AFFAIR. We ended our short conversation with Rocco with a hypothetical question.

Although it is not the central theme of Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa, at some point, one of the male characters will fall for Jean’s older teacher/dance instructor character.

On a personal note, would Rocco be open to having a relationship with an older woman?

He laughed first before answering the question.

He said, "Well, para sa akin naman, anything is possible.

"Pagdating sa ganyang May-December love affair, e, if you really love someone, then why not? Go with it.

"For me, age doesn’t really matter.

"If it comes to me, I’ll be open to it."

But for now, Rocco seems to be comfortable going out with his own age group—like Sheena Halili who is rumored to be his special someone.
