Carla Dunareanu feels at home in the Philippines.
More than a year since she arrived in Manila with her then boyfriend Christian Bautista, she had managed to learn some Filipino words, like, “Bilis,” “Takbo na rito,” and “Huwag na mahiya.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview Carla after her hosting stint at the World of Toyota motor show last August 16.
“I love the Philippines!” she began.
Smiling, the Romanian-Chinese DJ/host resumed, “I’d love to stay here as long as I can. The people are amazing.
"I love working, you know. I love my family at Magic 89.9.”
At present, she is part of the On Demand radio show.
Didn’t she have a hard time adapting to Pinoy culture?
Before coming here, Carla was based in Singapore, where she actually met Christian through The Kitchen Musical.
“It has not really been a hard adjustment to move from Singapore to the Philippines, especially that people here are very friendly.”
And she’s one of those celebrities now who’s been retweeting and reposting updates about typhoon Maring on Twitter and Facebook.
CHRISTIAN, ETC. So far she’s starred in one film, The Bride and the Lover, here. Doesn’t she have plans of becoming more visible in showbiz?
A pause, before answering, “I think it would depend on the project. It will depend on that.
“And I love doing theater shows as well so I wanna dedicate my time to that, and allow myself the freedom to also take hosting jobs.
“I think it really just depends on what’s new.”
And our last question: How’s your love life?
She laughed before repeating, “How’s my love life?”
Smiling, Carla declared, “I’m happy single.”
We asked, “What happened?”
News about her breakup with Christian Bautista surfaced in July, barely five months after their first anniversary.
Carefully choosing her words, Carla replied, “I think both of us, we’re still very good friends, you know, we still look out for each other, we still wish each other the best.
“But I think, at this point in time in both of our lives, we just need to focus on our work.”
