Aiza Seguerra revealed that she just got out of the hospital a day before her September 28 concert with Charice.
Dubbed Charice and Aiza: The Power of Two (The Unbreakable Tour), the event was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
During one of her spiels, Aiza candidly shared her thoughts on true love.
Aiza asked the crowd: "Nahanap n’yo na ba ang true love n’yo?"
She then said, "Minsan, dumating na pala, pero hindi mo alam, tapos bumalik.
"Itong kantang ito ay para sa mga tao na nahanap na ang tao na para sa kanila at mabibigay nila ang sarili nila sa tao na yun."
The acoustic singer then gave a heartfelt rendition of the song "Araw Gabi."
After her song, Aiza again talked about love.
"Pag nagmamahal ka nang todo, alam mong ipaglalaban mo yun. And we’re not just talking about homosexuals.
"If you love someone, tell him or her about your love.
"Love is such a beautiful thing and it is such an amazing thing.
"Pag masaya ka, you infect people. That’s all we need right now, especially now.
"This is a very special song for me. This is for you," declared Aiza.
While Aiza was singing, an emotional woman was shown on the huge LED screen above the stage.
It was Liza Diño, the girlfriend of Aiza Seguerra.
AIZA’S MEDICAL CONDITION. PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had an exclusive interview with Liza backstage after the concert.
Was she surprised by what Aiza did during the concert?
The actress and former beauty queen said, "Oo, grabe! Pero siguro kanina, mas ninenerbiyos ako para sa kanya dahil wala talaga siyang boses."
When asked why Aiza was hospitalized, Liza explained that the singer suffered from acute asthma.
Liza revealed that Aiza was confined last Monday (September 23) and that she was released by 3 p.m. on Friday (September 27).
"She didn’t want to alarm anyone. Saka may boses siya nun, pero umakyat sa lalamunan.
"Monday to Thursday, she had a voice, pero hindi siya makahinga.
"She’s a professional and she did what needs to be done."
Liza said that Aiza even asked a pass from her doctor just so she could attend dance rehearsals for the concert.
The actress added: "Ang sakit pa ng lalamunan niya. It’s painful talaga.
"It’s the first time in her life that she’s doing a concert that her very tool is handicapped.
"Sabi ko sa kanya, ’To these people, you don’t have to prove anything to them.
"’They know how good of a singer you are. You’ve touched them in so many ways, so that’s why they’re here tonight.
"’No judgment. Just tell them and bare your heart. Just tell them the situation.’"
Aiza did exactly that: She bared her heart when she dedicated a song to Liza and allowed concertgoers to see her girlfriend.
AIZA’S DECLARATION. During another spiel, Aiza seemed overwhelmed by her own honesty that she showed onstage.
"Siguro kaya ako napaos para mabuksan ko ang puso ko sa inyo," Aiza told the audience gathered at the Big Dome.
Liza could not hide the pride in her voice as she talked about Aiza’s performance.
"She really shined despite the technicalities. I’m so proud of her," the Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism 2001 said with a smile.
What was Liza’s initial reaction upon seeing herself on the big screen?
"Siguro mas nangibabaw yung I want to be there for her.
"Ito yung moments na gusto ko ipakita sa kanya na hindi ka nag-iisa. Kung gaano ko siya kamahal."
During the concert, it was often mentioned that this night was about truth, acceptance, and empowerment.
Liza seemed to agree as she told PEP, "This is a night of empowerment. I was never afraid. Never kaming nagtago. It’s a relationship.
"It’s about representing that community that has always been seeking that equality.
"Si Aiza yun, e. Siya ang kilalang lesbian sa showbiz.
"I am so proud na siya yun."
FROM TWITTER FOLLOWER TO GF. How did Liza and Aiza meet each other?
Liza narrated, "We met twelve years ago. She was barely out of high school and I was in college.
"I met her through my first boyfriend. Magkasama sila sa show.
"I met her, hindi pa siya showbiz. Hindi pa siya singer. Wala pa yung ’Pagdating ng Panahon.’
"Ako naman, napanood niya ang unang-una kong play.
"It’s so nice that we met each other when we just starting in the industry. It’s beautiful.
"After so many years, nagkita kami and nandito na kami."
Since they met 12 years ago, Liza and Aiza lived separate lives until their paths crossed again.
Liza also told PEP how they reconnected.
"Last December, I was here for Metro Manila Filmfest. Nag-Twitter ako sa kanya ’coz I was in Manila."
How did Twitter help bring Liza and Aiza together?
"It’s funny ’coz my dad knew before pa, twelve years ago, na magkaibigan kami.
"One Sunday night, my dad... nanonood kami ng The Buzz.
"Sabi niya sa akin, ’Dapat mag-Twitter ka, kasi ang mga artista dito, ang daming mga followers.’ At that time, yung Sisterakas, pinapalabas.
"Nung gabi, I was fiddling with it [Twitter] and hindi ko alam, pina-follow ko pala siya [Aiza].
"Nakita ko siya na may pictures with friends. I told her na I’m here in Manila and dun na nag-start."
What attracted her to Aiza and what does she like most about her?
"Her heart and her passion," Liza answered quickly.
"Siguro I’ve always been that person who just follows my passion.
"I never really followed her career through the years. I knew na kumakanta siya, pero hindi ko alam yung tungkol sa Sessionistas."
The Sessionistas are regular performers in ASAP; which includes Aiza, Sitti, Richard Poon, Juris, and Kean Cipriano.
"Nagulat siya about the things I do. Napanood niya yung In Nomine Matris."
Liza previously starred in the Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave entry In Nomine Matris, which earned for her a Best Actress Award.
She was last seen in the Cine Filipino entry Bingoleras. Liza will also be part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming fantaserye starring Julia Barretto titled Mira Bella.
FIRST TIME. This is the first time that Liza has entered a relationship with another woman.
"I’ve never been in a same-sex relationship ever."
Was she scared?
"Scared, pero sa sarili ko, hindi.
"Iniisip ko kung ano’ng sasabihin ng parents ko, ng pamilya ko with my choices.
"When I decided that I would be with her, it wasn’t ’ok, girl.’
"I fell in love with the soul. I fell in love with the person.
"And not the whole gender thing.
"Siguro kasi may history na kami. Kilala ko na siya before.
"Even at that time, siguro there was already something there, but we just didn’t explore it. We didn’t know what it was.
"But then, we both saw each other again, and we were both older, and we went through a lot of things in our life, and we already know what we want.
"I’ve been through relationships… I opened up my heart to the possibility of loving and opening up my heart to love kahit sino pa siya—kahit babae.
"It just so happened that it’s Aiza and I’ve never been happier."
Liza recalled her family’s reaction to her relationship with Aiza.
"The things that I thought would be a hurdle to achieving that acceptance sa relationship, unexpectedly, hindi naging mahirap.
"Mommy ko nag-question noong una.
"Ang point niya, hindi ko talaga inamin sa kanila. Nakita na lang nila na magkasama kami.
"Yun pala, there has to be that... at kailangan mo talagang sabihin sa kanila. That’s what they’re all waiting for."
GETTING BACK. Liza temporarily left the Philippines to pursue being a chef in the United States. However, she is back in the country to re-establish her career as an actress.
"Now that I’m trying to get back, people might judge me.
"Papasok pa lang ulit ako sa mundong ito and I’m opening up myself to people.
"Noong una, I was trying to be careful. Pero when you’re in love...
"People look for love all their lives, and if you find it, why hide it?
"Nandun ako sa point na there’s so much love in me right now."
Did Liza stay in Manila for Aiza?
"There was already a decision to come back.
"Sunud-sunod, kasi I won internationally and I won best actress in the New Wave category of MMFF...
"Nakakatawa, kasi I’m doing a totally different career in the U.S. I cook for a living, but it’s taking me to a different direction.
"It took me here and I found more than what I was looking for."
AIZA AS A GIRLFIEND. How would Liza describe Aiza as a girlfriend?
She paused a moment before answering, "She’s very supportive and very present sa lahat.
"Kumbaga, she doesn’t just give you support. It’s being there in the moment with you.
"It’s very new because I never experienced anything like this ever in my previous relationships.
"I would have relationships na supportive sila, you know, pero this is the first time I’m with someone who’s not just supportive, but who’s really there with you.
"And involved kayo sa process ng isa’t isa.
"We can talk about what I did onstage and be specific. How can you be that lucky?
"On the other hand, siya rin, pag kumakanta, we talk about her performance. She values my opnion.
"We help each other grow.
“Sabi nga nila, importante sa relationship na you’re reach other’s fan and critic.
"It’s a very beautiful exchange when you know how to appreciate and respect each other."
