President Rodrigo Duterte reiterates his stand allowing the remains of ex-President Ferdinand Marcos to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on September 18: "I said I will allow the burial because definitely, he was a president and a soldier. Alin diyan sa dalawa, mamili ka. He's qualified to be buried there."

A PRESIDENT AND A SOLDIER.

“Marcos was a president. As a matter of fact, I voted for him during his first term. My father was with him, he was a cabinet member so I voted for him.

“Marcos was a soldier.

“Well, you know, lima, anim na tao na magsabi na lumaban talaga ‘yan, puwedeng hindi nakapatay, but he was there to fight for his country.

“Okey na siya, sundalo pati presidente.

“ No, but I said I will allow the burial because definitely, he was a president and a soldier.

“Alin diyan sa dalawa, mamili ka. He’s qualified to be buried there.

WILL ALLOW ANTI-MARCOS BURIAL DEMONSTRATIONS.

You can use the streets, one month!

“I will tell the mayor, 'Give them permanent permit.'

“Ayusin n’yo lang ang traffic. All that I would need really is people na gusto n’yo mag-demonstrate, go ahead.

“How many days? I will give you a month.

“Bigyan mo lang nang konti yung mga tao because your right to air your grievance.

“Mag-demonstrate ka man is your constitutional right, but that right is also subject to the rights of others, not of your liking or sharing your belief, 'no?

“Demonstrate, walang problema. Huwag kayong matakot.

“Sabihin ko sa pulisya, 'You answer to the people,' that would be my policy.

“Wala kang makikita na military. Go ahead, just maintain the traffic.

“Mga traffic [enforcers] lang ang naroroon. I will give you one month.

“Saan gusto n’yo? Luneta, kasi para mare-route ko. Quiapo? Okey but you answer to the people for the disturbance.

Enjoy your right. You have it but subject to the right of others.”
