After debuting as an actress in Rosalinda, Carla Abellana is now set to try another job in show business—as one of the co-hosts of GMA-7's reality-based artista search StarStruck V. The daughter of former matinee idol Rey "PJ" Abellana said that she's looking forward to her new career.
"Actually, kinakabahan ako na pressured. Pero excited akong makita sila [contestants], excited akong ma-meet sila. Ganun ako, e. Gusto kong makita silang lahat talaga. From 60, siyempre magiging down to 14. I'm excited and looking forward to meeting all of them," said Carla during the media junket prepared for her and co-host Dennis Trillo yesterday, November 12, at the 17th floor of GMA Network Center in Quezon City.
Carla is not sure how viewers will accept her as the new face of StarStruck V, along with Dennis. (CLICK HERE to read related article)
"Iba kasi, siyempre, Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana, iba naman.
Instead of thinking about the perception of the viewers about their tandem, Carla said, "Mag-enjoy sila. We'll definitely be just relaxed, ano lang, casual lang."
NEW PARTNER. Since she's working with Dennis Trillo in StarStruck V, won't it make her Rosalinda partner, Geoff Eigenmman, jealous?
The 23-year-old actress was quick to answer. She said, "Hindi magseselos si Geoff kasi trabaho lang ito. And first of all, hindi naman dapat magselos si Geoff. Bakit naman siya magseselos?"
Then, Carla clarified that Geoff has no right to be jealous if she's paired with another male celebrity. "Hindi naman kami or what, ni nililigawan, hindi naman. Wala naman, trabaho lang 'to. This is the first time that Dennis and I will be working together, something to look forward to, actually," she explained.
Carla also took the chance to clarify the real status of her relationship with her leading man in Rosalinda, who's been very vocal about his attraction to the newbie actress.
Carla said Geoff is not courting her because she asked him not to do so. Ako 'yon, choice ko 'yon," she stated.
I know it's cliché to say that, artistas say that all the time. Of course, I just came from a five-year relationship, hindi ganun kadaling tumalon sa bagong [relasyon]."
ENDING OF ROSALINDA. Although she's excited about her hosting stint in StarStruck V, Carla couldn't hide the fact that she's sad because her first TV series Rosalinda is about to end this November.
By end of November matatapos na siya. Last three taping days na kami," Carla told the media when asked for an update on Rosalinda.
First [show] ko 'yan, e. So, ang bilis ng takbo ng story. Parang kailan lang na nag-uumpisa kami. Parang nakakalungkot na moving on na, kanya-kanya na. Hopefully, very much looking forward to working with the same group in the future."
But this doesn't mean that she won't be working with Geoff anymore. Last night, Nov. 12, their weekly TV drama SRO Cinemaserye Presents "Carinderia Queen" had its premiere. Carla also mentioned that she's been hearing talks that her next TV series will also be with the son of seasoned actors Gina Alajar and Michael de Mesa.
If given the chance to choose, what kind of TV series would she want to do next?
Kakaibang Geoff and Carla 'yong lumabas.
