Xian Lim was chosen over two ABS-CBN actors to serve as the voice of Paddington Bear.

David Heyman, the same producer of the Harry Potter franchise, handpicked Xian after seeing a commercial that he did in the past.

Audio samples and backgrounds of three Filipino actors were sent to the office of Studio Canal, a company based in United Kingdom. After two days, Xian was chosen as the official voice of UK's iconic bear.

Xian takes pride in being the official voice of Paddington in the Philippine version that will be screened starting February 11.

During the press conference held earlier today, January 23, Xian says the most difficult part of being the voice of Paddington Bear is dealing with British terms.

"When they presented the project to me, they asked if I would rather have a British accent or an American accent.

"We just added a touch of British...

"May coach provided and nagulat ang coach. Akala niya nakapag dub na ako ng maraming beses dahil madali kong nasundan...it takes a bit of practice rin."

It took him two days to dub the movie that stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Bonneville, and Julie Walters, among others.

Maver Mayuga, marketing director of Captive Cinema, revealed the criteria used in selecting the actor to voice over Paddington:

"It should be someone in his twenties or early 30s, the overall voice should have a youthful spirit and be innocent sounding."

In fact, when they sent over the file of containing the voice of Xian, the producers in the U.K. thought that there was a mix-up.

"We are very proud of having Xian. When we sent them the final mix-in, we received an email asking if we had sent the wrong file coz they were thinking it was still the original file."

Other territories also have their own local voice talents for Paddington. In the U.S and other international releases, Paddington is voiced over by Ben Whihshaw.

What is Kim Chiu's reaction to him being chosen as the voice of Paddington Bear?

"Pinakita ko sa kanya ang trailer...cute trailer. Ang sabi ko, it's something that family and kids can enjoy."

Last year, Kim Chiu was chosen to portray Mulan in a calendar for Disney in Southeast Asia.

"Oo, I'm very proud," said Xian with a smile.

The 25-year-old actor recalls that when he was still a young boy, some people already told him that looked like a teddy bear.

"A lot of people told me nung maliit pa ako, sabi nila, para kang teddy bear.

"Ang sarap mong yakapin.

"Maybe because I was really chubby...medyo Bondying-Bondying."

The ABS-CBN actor also recalls watching shows of Paddington while he was still living in the United States.

"Merong kid's channel and dun ko napanood ang Paddington. There's different stories all the time about the bear: about Paddington wanting to be accepted by the Brown family."

ON BRIDGES. There have rumors circulating that Xian was pulled out from Bridges because he could not deliver the required intensity and it took him over 30 takes to finish a scene.

When asked Xian about these rumors, he stated: "Not true."

The actor said it was the decision of ABS-CBN executives to put him in a teleserye with Kim Chiu this 2015.

"Ako po, I'm just following instructions. Masaya ako na ibabalik po nila yung KimXi tandem... It's just part of our work."

Did he get hurt when he heard about rumors saying that he cannot keep up with Jericho Rosales and Maja Salvador?

"Rumors are always going to be there. It's something that we can't really take away, but what we can do is probably just ignore it and not be affected by it."

Why was he pulled out from Bridges?

"It's all management's decision. I'm very happy with Star Creatives dahil binalik nila ang KimXi tandem [referring to his teamup with Kim Chiu]."

Kim previously revealed that their 2015 teleserye is based on a Wattpad story.

Paulo Avelino has been chosen to take the place of Xian in this upcoming teleserye that will also star Jericho Rosales and Maja Salvador.

Xian believes that Paulo is more suited to star in the show now known as Bridges of Love.

"Nung binabasa ko ang [script ng] Bridges, bagay na bagay po kay Paulo Avelino ang role."

2015 PROJECTS. What are the upcoming projects of Xian this 2015?

"Meron kaming teleserye ni Kim. Taping will start this February.

"There's also a movie pero wala pang akong details kasi hindi pa kami nagsisimula."
