Five years after its successful run, cameras are starting to grind for the sequel of Eugene Domingo's critically-acclaimed Cinemalaya entry Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank.
In Eugene's Instagram post yesterday, August 7, she said that it has been two years since she last shot a movie.
Her caption reads: After 2 years of not making movies, I start shooting today, Sunday!
"See you at the movies and thank you everybody for the inspiration and undying support, this is all for you our dearest audience."
She also posted a picture with her Septic Tank 1 co-stars Cai Cortez and Kean Cipriano, new cast members Khalil Ramos, You're My Foreignoy winner Gui Adorno, and director Marlon Rivera.
It can be seen that they are at a spa where Eugene wears a bathrobe while Kean, Cai, and Khalil only have towels to cover their bodies.
Meanwhile, Cai, Kean, and Khalil have already started taping a week ago, based on Cai's Instagram post.
In Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 1, the characters of Cai, Kean, and JM De Guzman were producers of a fictional indie film titled "Walang Wala."
They convince Eugene (who plays a fictionalized version of herself) to star in their film where she is required to take a dip in a septic tank.
In Direk Marlon's Instagram post, he introduced Khalil's character as Lennon, the new production assistant of the production team.
Direk Marlon also gave a sneak peek of one of Eugene and Gui Adorno's scenes.
Direk Marlon also said that he considers working with Eugene as one of the happiest reunions of his life.
Last May, Eugene confirmed in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the successful independent film will have a sequel.
The actress also said that JM will still be a part of the sequel.
Aside from winning Best Picture in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank also became an official entry in the 2011 Vancouver International Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival, the Tokyo International Film Festival, and the Far East Film Festival.
The Film Academy of the Philippines also chose the movie to represent the country in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 84th Academy Awards. However, it failed to make it to the final shortlist.
No playdate has been announced yet for Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2.
