GMA-7 star Lovi Poe got the chance to enter ABS-CBN’s premises for the first time to promote her movie The Significant Other, which she top-bills with Tom Rodriguez and Erich Gonzales.
Former Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up housemate Tom felt nostalgic upon re-entering the Kapamilya Network. The actor transferred to GMA-7 in 2013.
Distributed by Star Cinema and produced by Cineko Productions, this sexy drama promises to be a fresh take on the typical kabit movie with its non-linear narrative.
Lovi is thankful to her home network for giving her the opportunity to visit ABS-CBN.
The Kapuso actress admits, “It’s very refreshing to be in a different place and I’m very thankful na our network let us do this, to let us come here. It’s been very generous of them. I'm so happy to be here.”
Has she ever thought of transferring to ABS-CBN? “Actually I’m very, very grateful to my network so I don’t think it really, really crossed my mind yet.”
The Joel Lamangan-directed film gathered controversy last year after a video showing Erich crying on set went viral. A heated altercation scene left Erich’s hand bleeding after she accidentally hit Lovi’s earrings during a hard face slap. Lovi for her part ended up feeling shaken by the incident.
For all the controversy it generated, Lovi thinks it was all part of a day’s work. “[We needed to] be truthful to the scene and we owe that to our audience to do our best.”
The two actresses didn’t speak to each other after the scene occurred. “We needed our own time and our own space. After every scene naman ganito. It’s normal na we have this intensity, intense emotions na nag fi-fill up sa aming dalawa. What is important is that Direk Joel is happy with the scene and we’re good friends. We know that its part of our jobs.”
In a previous interview, Lovi revealed that given the chance, she wants to work with Kapamilya actors Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin.
TOM PICKS KAPAMILYA LOVE TEAM. After the blog con, Tom is asked to name the ABS-CBN stars that he would like to work with in the future.
"Ang dami pa," he admits. "I have so many friends from my time here. I would love to work with new people who are here now and people that I have worked with in the past."
Tom considers Enrique Gil and his LizQuen love team partner Liza Soberano as his personal choice.
"If I could pick, sina Quen and Liza would be nice to work with one of these days.
"Quen is an awesome person. I consider him a friend.
"Liza...I have never spoken to her in person before. But seeing their dynamics...I watched their movie on TV recently, on Cinema One.
"Ang ganda kung paano nila binigyan ng justice ang characters nila.
"I would love to get the chance to work with them."
GRATEFUL TO ABS-CBN and GMA-7. Tom is thankful to both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 for helping him reach his stature now.
The 30-year-old actor looks back fondly on his experience working with ABS-CBN.
"Napaka-nostalgic ng pakiramdam kasi I started out here. I was in these buildings from 2010 to 2012.
"Kumukuha ako ng cheke, pumipila ako para kumuha ng badge. Walking through the corridors, everything looks the same.
"Starbucks is still there where I waited for hours para dun sa sundo ko sa PBB for interviews. It's a mix of different emotions. Ang sarap."
When Tom is asked about being a former Kapamilya, he points out:
"When I was here, I learned so much. I treasure my experiences here because it shaped who I am.
"Ang sarap lang na you were projecting the contrasts in your head "You were starting, you were struggling. It was going against the grain, against the wave.
"Now, I'm at a point in my life when I'm just enjoying my work.
"Before it really felt like survival mode."
How did his network transfer affect him and his career?
"I can't describe what GMA has done for me. They really changed my life for the better.
"I'm so thankful for the trust they gave me. That's what I say to all my friends in this industry.
"For me, I consider this one industry. My friends ako na galing sa kabila lumipat dito, may friends ako na galing dito, lumipat sa kabila.
"For me, whoever is willing to gamble on me and to really risk for you. For me, I felt that type of care and na willing silang sumugal sa akin, sa GMA.
"For other people, it might be different but for me, personally, I consider myself lucky to have GMA in my life."
