One of TV5’s longest-running shows is off to a fresh start.
The cast members of Lokomoko U! Ang Kulit!—namely Tuesday Vargas, Valeen Montenegro, JC de Vera, Eula Caballero, Alwyn Uytingco, Empoy Marquez and Caloy “Ogag” Alde—looked back on their most memorable moments on the comedy gag show that started in 2008.
The cast members met with the media during their Thanksgiving Mass and press conference held last Friday, June 7 at the Broadway Centrum in San Juan City.
Host-comedienne Tuesday Vargas sported a new look for the new “start” of their show.
The comedienne shared with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press one of her most memorable experiences during the show’s entire run.
“Alam nila ang ‘I live it!’ Yung mga mangingisda, alam nila yung ‘I Like!’
When asked whether the cast members got on each other's nerves during their segments, Tuesday proudly said, “Wala pa [kaming] nangyayaring ganun between us.”
Charot!
Tuesday turned serious as she said: “Seryoso, wala po talagang nag-aaway.”
Host-actress Valeen Montenegro has been part of the program since it started way back in 2008.
“I mean dati, ako lang yung naka-pigtails, ganyan.
“Ako lang yung isa sa pinaka bata pero now, ako na yung isa sa pinakamatanda sa show.
“I mean it’s flattering, it’s super nakakataba ng heart kasi nandun yung trust ng TV5 and everyone sa akin na kaya naming i-angant yung comedy of the show.
TV5 head of creative and entertainment production Perci Intalan pointed out that the show underwent a lot of hurdles during its five-year run until they decided to pit the show against rival networks' variety shows on the Sunday noontime slot.
“I think ito rin yung show na umabot kami sa point na nag-stop kami ng production for a while because we are trying to figure out kung saan ba natin ilo-launch yung show, yung tamang time slot for it.
“So, tumigil for a while pero ito lang yung show na nung tumigil kami, nag-replay, kita namin yung clamour nung audience kasi pinanood, nag-rate – tumaas ng tumaas.
“Before we new it, yung [program communications] was requesting na bilisan na raw namin ang pag-produce ng bagong episodes and habaan pa natin yung show.
“And then before we knew it, naging destination na yung Sunday ng tanghali.
“It’s a great thing kasi ang tagal-tagal nang iniisip where to put the show.
“Ang hinihintay lang pala ng audience ay ang mag-decide kami and this is where it is.
“Ang maganda, lalo pa siyang nadiscover and more and more viewers are telling their friends and other people about Lokomoko.
The TV executive also shared that the good rapport between the cast is their “hidden strength” and the reason behind the show’s success.
“At itong grupong to kahit saan pwedeng pumunta.
“Kahit na malayo yung lugar, malapit yung lugar, mainit, maulan, binabagyo, lahat yan go sila ng go and that’s really the strength of this group.”
Lokomoko U airsevery Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on TV5.
