Remember when Claudine Barretto played triplets in an ABS-CBN teleserye?
It happened in 1999 via the prime-time series Saan Ka Man Naroroon, where she portrayed the characters of Rosenda, Rosario, and Rosemarie.
The series was directed by the late Wenn V. Deramas, who also directed Claudine's first hit teleserye Mula sa Puso.
It was the first daily teleserye in the Philippines to have triplets as leads, with only one actress portraying the three main characters.
Rosenda, the one sporting short hair among the three ladies, was the evil one or the kontrabida.
Rosemarie, separated from her sisters since birth, grew up in the States.
Claudine had to wear two different wigs for Rosenda and Rosemarie’s scenes.
Rosario, the kind one, was separated from her family after falling off a cliff. The character had long hair, and did not require Claudine to wear a wig.
Given that Claudine had to be present in different locations for the different characters she was playing, did she have a hard time?
The female lead revealed that Saan Ka Man Naroroon was actually the easiest to make among the teleseryes she starred in.
She told the host Jai Ho in this 2019 interview on Jeepney TV’s Showbiz Pa More, “Alam mo ba na ang Saan Ka Man Naroroon, para sa akin, para sa amin, iyon ang pinakamadaling teleseryeng ginawa namin?
“Maaga kami natatapos. Ako, hindi na ako nagbabasa ng script, so pagdating ko sa set, ibi-brief lang ako ng executive producer ko na ang istorya natin ito, ito.
“Si Direk Wenn kasi since writer din sya, sinusulat niya minsan sa set na.”
And because, most of the time, it was only Claudine who had to change looks, she learned the discipline of switching quickly from scene to scene, from one character to the next.
She said in the interview, “Lahat ng mga artista sobrang galing, ako lang nang ako iyong gumagalaw...
"Kaya mabilis ako magbihis. Ako lang iyong gumagalaw so ang bilis naming nagawa.
“Dito ako nahasa talaga, kumbaga sa pagiging artista, nahasa talaga.”
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on September 24, 2020, Saan Ka Man Naroroon writer Keiko Aquino also said that doing Saan Ka Man Naroroon was a walk in the park.
She said, “It was the easiest to write and the easiest to mount, weird, ano?
“Si Direk Wenn, magsisimula ng alas siyete ng umaga, ‘tapos na siya ng alas kuwatro ng hapon. Nakakanuod pa sila ng sine pag hapon!
“Pati writing, mabilis. Ang dulas-dulas ng show na iyon.”
Saan Ka Man Naroroon earned Claudine her first Best Actress nomination by an international award-giving body, the Asian TV Awards, in 2000.
A top-rater during its time, it aired from 1999 to 2001.
According to AGB Nielsen, Saan Ka Man Naroroon had an all-time high rating of 46.8% and the 37th highest-rating single episode of any Filipino TV show.
