Paulo Avelino (left frame) has replaced Xian Lim as one of the stars of Bridges of Love. ABS-CBN states there has been "public clamor" to bring back the KimXi (Kim Chiu-Xian Lim) tandem on television.

Paulo Avelino has replaced Xian Lim in the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye Bridges.

This was revealed by ABS-CBN corporate communications in a statement sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) earlier today, January 10.

It will be recalled that John Lloyd Cruz was supposed to star in this teleserye that will also topbill Jericho Rosales and Maja Salvador.

At that time, John Lloyd was still negotiating with the Kapamilya Network regarding his contract, which is why he was replaced by Xian Lim.

In a previous interview with PEP last November 11, Xian revealed that he already started taping for Bridges.

“Nakakadalawang taping day na ako," he revealed.

“I'm really excited to begin with the soap.

“Laking pasasalamat ko sa Star Creatives dahil pinagkatiwalaan nila ako for this project.”

However, Kim Chiu announced last December that she will have Xian as her leading man in a 2015 teleserye based on a Wattpad story.

In its statement, the Kapamilya Network pointed out that there has been "public clamor" to bring back the KimXi (Kim Chiu-Xian Lim) tandem on television.

Here is the full statement of ABS-CBN regarding the casting changes of the teleserye called Bridges of Love:

"Due to public clamor, ABS-CBN, through the Star Creatives business unit, is bringing back the loveteam of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim in a primetime teleserye to be launched this year. Because of this development, Xian will not pursue the teleserye Bridges of Love with Maja Salvador and Jericho Rosales. The role of Carlos Antonio in the said series will now be played by Paulo Avelino."
