Kim Atienza is given an official welcome on GMA-7's 24 Oras today, October 4, 2021.
And after showing the audio-visual presentation prepared for the new Kapuso, anchor Mike Enriquez segues into introducing someone from the roster of GMA News and Public Affairs' personalities.
Enter Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz, the network's official meteorologist and weather reporter, who is presently in Australia.
Mang Tani begins, "Puwede na kitang tawagin ngayong Kapuso, Kuya Kim! Welcome siyempre!"
He goes on recounting the first time he worked with Kim.
"Natatandaan mo pa ba iyong matagal na matagal na panahon na magsisimula ka sa bagong trabaho mo noon at ako naman ay nasa PAGASA? Matagal na iyon.
"Pero ngayon, heto, magkakasama na tayong dalawa.
"Siyempre, definitely, you will enjoy Kapuso Network.
"So, Kapuso Kuya Kim, welcome!"
When reports about Kuya Kim's impending transfer to GMA-7 erupted last week, Mang Tani's name also trended on social media.
Loyal Kapuso viewers looked for Mani Tani, who, at that time, had not been appearing on TV.
They asked: Is Kuya Kim replacing Mang Tani as the official weatherman of GMA-7?
A Kapuso insider got in touch with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) to put a lid on the rumors: Mang Tani will remain the weatherman of GMA-7 and 24 Oras.
Kuya Kim, on the other hand, will host a segment in 24 Oras which is yet to be revealed.
He will also be part of the GMA-7 morning talk show Mars Pa More and the Gtv informative program Dapat Alam Mo!
Prior to his transfer to GMA-7, Kuya Kim was the weatherman of rival program TV Patrol for 17 years.
